Father of missing Susan Cox believes husband Powell killed her by giving poison-laced pancakes the night before she vanished
The father of missing Susan Cox Powell who mysteriously vanished around ten years ago believes that she was poisoned by her husband. Chuck Cox blames his son-in-law Josh Powell for murdering his daughter Susan and then getting rid of the mother of two's body. Chuck Cox has made the claims while on an NBC Dateline special episode. Susan, 28, had last been seen in the home she shared with her husband, Josh, in West Valley City, Utah in 2009.
According to a clip that was obtained by Daily Mail, Cox remembers the moment he heard of Josh's unusual gesture where he served pancakes to Susan the night before she disappeared. Cox believes that Josh had used the opportunity to poison Susan. "When I heard that Josh had fixed them pancakes for dinner and put the pancakes on each person's plate, and then cleaned up the dishes immediately afterward, I mean I just get chills down my back," Cox shared.
"I've seen how he treated her in the house. I've seen how much he cares to help with dishes or cooking or anything," he added. When asked about whether Josh would help around the house, Cox responds saying not at all and that was a very out of character thing.
MEAWW had previously reported that Susan Cox Powell was only 28 years old when she mysteriously vanished. After Susan's disappearance, Josh Powell gave the authorities a very bizarre and claimed that, after his wife went to bed, he decided to take their two small boys — 7-year-old Charlie and 5-year-old Braden — on a spontaneous camping trip in the middle of the night. He added that they did not return till the next day, well after Susan had gone missing on December 7, 2009.
Josh had shared that he had taken the children camping at the Simpson Springs Recreation Area and had left his wife back at home. Those temperatures that night were freezing. The authorities searched the area where Josh said that he had been camping but did not find any signs of a campsite.
Susan's disappearance remains a mystery to this day.
