Fashion designer Vince Camuto's breathtaking French chateau-style Greenwich estate headed for auction in August
Fashion Company Nine West founder Vince Camuto's breathtaking Greenwich estate will be up for grab on August 12 after having previously been on the market for $26.5M. His estate is being sold by his widow, Lousie, who acted as creative director of Camuto group and was former Miss Sweden in 1989.
Whether it was from his company Nine West or from one of his collaborators after Nine West was sold for over $900M, the designer had always earned a great fortune.
As a result of wealth and prosperity, Camuto, who died in 2015, had owned some of the most exquisite properties such as his $72M Hamptons estate and his $40M Hamptons horse farm besides his favorite Greenwich estate.
Artistic craftsmanship oozes opulence
The famous designer had always found his rundown mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut, as his personal favorite which he discovered in 1984. On exploring, Camuto and his wife spent years restoring the home to one of the most exotic locations on the East Coast. With each room having a varied theme adorned with art and period furniture collected from throughout the world, the place exudes opulence and richness.
Built in 1927, Chateau Ridge might be the finest example of Normadly-style châteaux in the US. Its old-world charm embellished with elaborate hand paintings and hand-carved paneled walls exemplify it as a museum quality abode.
Serene landscape, pool, lawn and tennis court
Surrounded by over four acres of serene landscaped grounds, the main residence is reached by a peaceful long apple tree-lined drive past the iron entry gate.
One could be easily swayed by its lush green manicured lawns, carefully clipped box parterre gardens and lines of trees and shrubs that evoke a desire for long lazy summer strolls.
There is enough ground for leisure activities. One can enjoy a game of tennis at the court or rest in the two-bedroom guest house and staff quarters.
