At the beginning of 'Fargo' Season 4 Episode 8, we saw how the episode depicted a real-life event and that the names of the people involved were changed due to respect for the people involved. However, it was also noted that the incident itself was portrayed truthfully. Did they mean THE Kansas City Massacre or just one Kansas City Massacre? You see the confusion arises because the event that has been referred to as the Kansas City Massacre took place in 1933 and the shootout was not inside the train station, but right outside. Also, the ones who were killed in this incident were all officers of the law who were transferring a federal prisoner called Frank Nash. The ones who planned the shootout had technically attempted to free Nash from the officers but had instead ended up killing him after a gunfight between the officers and the shooters ensued.

According to the FBI, the escape plan was orchestrated by Charles Arthur “Pretty Boy” Floyd, Vernon Miller, and Adam Richetti. Four officers and Frank Nash had been killed that day. Only Adam Richetti was captured alive and received a death penalty while Floyd was shot dead and Miller was found dead and it was revealed in investigations that he could have died after an altercation with a henchman of Longie Zwillman, head of New Jersey’s underworld mob.

Now, coming to 'Fargo' Season 4, Episode 8, the scene that saw Swanee Capps and Zelmare Roulette get involved in a shootout inside the Union Station of Kansas City is, as a fan noted on Reddit, "times 20" in comparison to the real-life incident. The fan wrote, "Well this is one hell of an episode. I expected something like the real-life Kansas City Massacre. Guess we got that times 20. Daaaamn."

In this scene, we see Zelmare and Swanee take out their guns and shoot at not only the cops but the public to and this makes the entire scene seem more like a massacre than it would have been if only Deafy and his associates had died. Also, Zelmare managed to escape from Odis and she ran screaming as if she was going to attack Mr. Snowman — the figure that only she, her niece Ethelrida and recently, her lover Swanee was able to see. She probably believes that Mr. Snowman stole Swanee, and it is definitely going to take time for her to clear her head and figure out the real person who led to the loss of Swanee's life — Loy!

Fans, of course, expect Zelmare to hunt Loy and Odis down. However, will that happen?
