Fake post calling Joe Biden a 'pedophile' as he had sex with 'teenage babysitter' Jill goes viral on social media
A Facebook post claiming that President Joe Biden is a 'pedophile' as he apparently started a relationship with first lady Jill Biden when she used to work as a teenage babysitter at their house has gone viral. There is no truth to this claim, a simple fact-check proved.
The fabricated post contained a picture that showed a young Biden smiling with a young Jill sitting on his lap. "'Dr. Jill' was the Biden's teenage baby sitter when Pedo Joe began having sex with her while his wife was still in the hospital. Once a Pedo, Always a Pedo," the caption read. The post has been shared by a number of people on Facebook and almost all of them have been flagged by the social media platform with the message, "Independent fact-checkers say this information has no basis in fact."

Reuters has fact-checked the post and confirmed it's false. The picture itself is not doctored, however, as it was shared by Jill herself in August 2002 on Instagram. at the time, she confirmed the timeline of her relationship with Biden in the caption of the photo. "'How did you get this number?' Those were the first words I spoke to Joe when he called me out of the blue on a Saturday in 1975. I’ll be speaking tonight at the #DemConvention. I hope you’ll tune in!" she wrote.
In 1972, Biden’s first wife, Neilia Hunter was killed in a car crash along with their 13-month-old daughter Naomi, leaving Biden to care for his two young sons. In fact, it has been widely reported by a number of media outlets in the recent past that Jill and Biden’s first date was in March 1975 when Jill was in her twenties, disproving the fact that Jill was the Biden family's “teenage baby sitter” and under the age of conset. Jill told Vogue in an interview that she was a senior in college when she met Biden.
Jill was born on June 3, 1951, and Biden on Nov. 20, 1942, which meant that Jill would have been 23-years-old when she met him, not a minor. Biden would have been 32 years old. According to her graduation date listed on the University of Delaware website, she completed college in 1975.
In an interview with CNN in 2012, Jill said that she had only met Biden once in public before he saw her photo in an advertisement for a local park in Wilmington, Delaware. He then got her number from his brother Frank and called her to ask her out. “I had met him once before but we were in a crowd and it was at a fundraiser. So then I guess he saw my picture somewhere and he said, ‘That’s the kind of girl I’d like to date.’ And I knew his brother so his brother said, ‘Oh I know her.’ Because I was in college at the time and his brother was there. So Frank got my number and Joe called and said, ‘This is Joe Biden, would you like to go out?’ […] I actually had another date that night that I canceled.”
According to the White House website, the first couple "married at the United Nations Chapel in New York City in 1977 and she became the mother of his two sons, Beau and Hunter. Their daughter, Ashley, was born in 1981." Jill was married to her first husband, Bill Stevenson, from 1970 to 1975. Although there have been reports of Stevenson alleging that Jill and Biden had met while Stevenson was still married to Jill, the FLOTUS has denied the accusations.
