HGTV's 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' is back after a hiatus and has kicked off with an emotional story of Bakersville's (California) single mother Jessica Mosley and her five kids — Jordyn, 12, and Makynzie, 15, Miguel, 12, Cheyenne, 16, and Annie, 13.

The family was living in a house purchased by Jessica's father, Jeffrey Chapin, but a month later he passed away in an accident and the ownership of the house couldn't be transferred, which led to the family moving into her mother, Pamela's three-bedroom, one-bathroom house. The seven of them were sharing a bathroom. It was tough, sure but not for long.

Host Jesse Tyler Ferguson and design team  Breegan Jane, Darren Keefe Reiher and Carrie Locklyn with the help of John Balfanz Homes and 1,000 volunteers built a Spanish California style home for the family in a week and Jessica couldn't be happier. The experience was nothing short of a rollercoaster and not only just that, but it was also a big life-adjustment for her and the entire family.

"You know, I think the gratitude, being able to feel and know that there were so many people that gave up their time there," she told MEA WorldWide and added that just knowing that there was hard, physical labor and expensive things being installed at the home was a very humbling experience.

However, seeing the house for the first time wasn't an easy sight to take in. It was very surreal. But that didn't stop her from being thrilled about the technologically-advanced kitchen and laundry room that had been set up for them. It felt like it was a billion-dollar resort somewhere in Dubai.

"I was almost like: don't touch that, kids!" Jessica laughed and added that the design was extremely practical and also the layout of the kitchen. The double island has helped the family come together, sit for meals together. The fridge has a huge display area and the kids have got it hooked up with their and they really love it.

A house like that, there's bound to be a favorite corner. Jessica said it had to be the kitchen and bedroom. But she said it was an emotional experience parting with the old house especially for her mother because she and her father had created so many memories. But the design team did their best to retain most of it and even made a cozy corner that house Jeffrey's belongings.

Jessica is so content with the way the house has been built that she wouldn't change a thing about it. Even though they are still getting used to all the space and the new items around the house, but it was amazing the amount of attention to detail that went into building the home from the ground up.
