Ari and Caitlin have known each other since they were in college, and their relationship has been through some ups and downs. Ari first saw Caitlin on the second day of college and right then knew that Caitlin would be the one. The two dated for a while but that relationship did not last for a long time. The duo decided to head their separate ways, unaware that after eight years, fate had some other plan. Ari came out as a lesbian at 18 and at 20 knew that he wanted to transition into a man. Ari then started taking testosterone to start the transition and went on to have top surgery.

Ari confessed that the transition made him feel good about himself and he felt confident like never before. Once the two got together, they knew that starting a family together is not off the plan. Caitlin recalled that she was the one who proposed to Ari and left him shocked. While people think they are a cisgender couple, Ari revealed that they like to confuse people and not disclose his history to them. Despite this, the pair felt the need to open up to their neighbors about Ari's pregnancy because the baby was due in a couple of weeks. Speaking to the camera, Caitlin revealed that she has always wanted to be a mother.

Caitlin further explained that she had been trying to also get pregnant but because of her age, it has been harder. Ari got pregnant by using donor sperm from one of their close friends. He recalled that he got pregnant after Caitlin used a syringe filled with their friend's sperm and had a home insertion. Luckily for them, Ari was able to conceive but looking at his pregnancy journey, Caitlin admitted that she felt jealous. Despite this, she wanted to be there for Ari in every way possible.

The two finally decided to break the news to their neighbors who were welcoming to this. Caitlin admitted that she never expected things to go so easily but was happy to get their chest cleared by putting out this information. After waiting for nine months, it was finally time for Ari to give birth. Ari was 10 days past his due date and decided to go to the hospital to get induced. While he was looking forward to welcoming their child, Ari made it clear that he wanted to be conscious while giving birth as he wanted to experience giving birth.

After the doctors induced him, they decided to wait for a while for the cervix to dilate. Thirty hours into labor, the doctor feared they might have to do a C-section. The doctor informed him that they would be opting for surgery if the baby was not out in three pushes. Luckily for him, after the second push, the couple welcomed their child. Ari and Caitlin revealed that "they/them" pronoun would be used for the baby, giving them the right to choose the gender they want. The pair decided not to share the baby's name or give them a gender but added that they would be planning to have more children in the future.

'Extraordinary People: My Pregnant Husband' aired on Thursday, July 23, at 10 pm ET on TLC.
