A day after golfing legend Jack Nicklaus faced heat on social media after he openly endorsed President Donald Trump for a second term, former Chicago Bears player Jay Cutler also announced his support for the POTUS reelection campaign, reposting Nicklaus' statement on his Instagram page on Thursday, October 29.

"Never a doubt" he captioned the post which had a screenshot of the letter tweeted out by Nicklaus. We previously reported that Nicklaus sparked fury on social media with a long endorsement for Trump. He believes the 74-year-old has "delivered on his promises" and "worked for the average person" while being "more diverse than any President I have seen and has tried to help people from all walks of life – equally." Nicklaus also felt "Trump's policies will bring the American Dream to many families across the nation."

Sharing a post on Twitter, Nicklaus wrote, "Get out and vote. I did!" His post also read, "You might not like the way our President says or tweets some things – and trust me, I have told him that! – but I have learned to look past that and focus on what he's tried to accomplish. This is not a personality contest. It's about patriotism, policies, and the people they impact. His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear. How he has said it has not been important to me. What has been important are his actions."

Although Cutler announced his endorsement on Instagram, the news also went viral on Twitter, drawing a number of reactions, especially from the liberals who condemned his decision. "Happy to see Jay Cutler endorse Donald Trump since he’s never actually been on a winning team," 'Talk Ain't Cheap' podcast host Jensen Karp wrote, while sports journalist Taylor Rooks wrote, "With the Jack Nicklaus/Jay Cutler endorsements -just want to point out other Trump supporters are praising them. Meaning they actually do love when athletes have political opinions! They just dont like when it’s different from theirs. Why don’t those two have to shut up and play?"

"Jay Cutler and Jack Nicklaus have endorsed Trump. They should shut up and stick to sports. Or, does that only apply to Black athletes?" one user noted, alluding to the backlash African-American players faced from the conservatives every time they spoke out against the president. "Jay Cutler, the guy who threw 160 interceptions, just endorsed tRump. Guess he's just fucking use to going to the wrong guy." another said. A third said, "Makes sense Jay Cutler supports Trump because he’s also a mediocre white man who failed at the thing he was supposed to be good at"

Cutler has previously expressed his support of Trump after he won the 2016 election. “I’m happy with the results,” Cutler said at the time. “I’ve supported Trump for a while. I’m not going to dive into it. I know it’s a sensitive issue, but I like where it’s going.”

The backlash received by Nicklaus also led to people poking their nose in his connection with Trump. A 2019 Politico report revealed, "Under the administration's fiscal 2020 funding plan released Monday, HHS would steer $20 million toward a mobile children's hospital project at Miami's Nicklaus Children's Hospital, named for the legendary golfer."

It also alleged how Nicklaus lobbied Trump on the golf course in Florida and he met with HHS Secretary Alex Azar and then-OMB Director Mick Mulvaney in Washington, DC, to request funds. "The $20 million increase will continue support for the pediatric disaster care pilot initiative which aims to improve pediatric care during emergencies," the budget proposal read. The two individuals confirmed that the funding would be for the Nicklaus project.
