What is the runtime of 'Evil Dead Rise'?
The much-awaited 'Evil Dead Rising' now has an official runtime. According to Collider, the movie will be the longest in the entire franchise at 96 minutes. It is followed by the original 1981 'The Evil Dead' at 85 minutes, 'Evil Dead II' at 84 minutes and 'Army of Darkness' at 81 minutes in length. This time, the action will take place in a high-rise apartment building in Los Angeles, where a single mother unknowingly becomes possessed by a Kandarian demon. Amid the violent mayhem that follows, her sister and children are forced to do everything in their power to save her soul and themselves.
Lesser runtime keeps people interested
In recent years, the average running time of blockbuster movies has been increasing. It is growing harder to find a franchise tentpole that runs less than two hours, perhaps in an effort to ensure that patrons know they are getting their money's worth. So, it is even more unusual for a franchise of five films to have a movie with the longest runtime at 96 minutes.
In terms of horror movies in general, the 'Evil Dead' series has the right approach. Anything longer than 100 minutes carries the danger leaving viewers too exhausted or bored to care about the movie.
