Eva Longoria says she's 'always been a director and producer' long before her acting career took off
Eva Longoria is a prolific actor, but according to an interview given on the red carpet at this year's Eva Longoria Foundation Gala, she's been pursuing a career as a director long before that. She is set to become a huge hit as a director, and she took the time to talk about what direction has been like for her.
"You know, I've always been a director, producer, and I fell into acting,' she said, "but then acting took off." Her acting career soared after her long-running role as Gabrielle Soli on 'Desperate Housewives', and she's been a household name ever since. She returned to the director's chair nearly 10 years ago, with the documentary 'Latinos Living the American Dream.'
She's been a producer for a great many projects as well. "When I started to direct, it was natural and I was good at it," she says of her directing career, "...I love it and it uses all of my brain cells." She also spoke of how much she enjoys working with other people while directing. "I love actors and I love the crew of creativity, just all combining our minds to create. It's the best feeling in the world."
Most recently, she's been hard at work as a director on the Netflix series, 'The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia,' produced by Mario Lopez. Eva Longoria has been directing lead actress, Paulina Chavez. "I just directed her, and I had so much fun." The show stars a 15-year old robotics engineer who is invited to work for Nasa.
When asked whether or not it was difficult to direct herself, she laughed, stating: "I prefer to direct myself. I love directing myself." It's good to know that, no matter what, Eva Longoria has at least one actor with whom she is going to enjoy working with.
