Internet users across the world are stirred by a heartbreaking Twitter post by Erika Mahoney, in remembrance of her father Kevin Mahoney who was a tragic victim of the Boulder supermarket shooting on March 22, 2021. She accompanied her tweets with a few beautiful photos of the father-daughter duo on her wedding day.

"I am heartbroken to announce that my Dad, my hero, Kevin Mahoney, was killed in the King Soopers shooting in my hometown of Boulder, CO,” she tweeted. "My dad represents all things Love. I'm so thankful he could walk me down the aisle last summer," she writes. In the same thread, she goes on to reveal that she is pregnant, adding, "I know he wants me to be strong for his granddaughter."

Who is Erika Mahoney?

Erika Mahoney presently works as a News Director for KAZU Public Radio, reveals her Twitter bio. A dedicated page on Erika on the KAZU website informs that she joined the company in 2016 after four years of experience as a TV reporter. 

Erika always nurtured a keen passion for journalism and public radio since her high school days. At that time, she worked for an independent community radio station in Boulder, which is her hometown. 

A LinkedIn profile believed to belong to her shows that Erika studied Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University where she graduated in 2012. Before graduation, she had worked as a production intern with CBS News in New York City and remained a reporter and producer for the university's CitrusTV News. After earning her degree, Erika went on to work in popular media houses like WBNG TV 12 and KION NewsChannel5, also becoming a fellow at National Press Foundation in March 2019. Her work locations spanned across the East and West Coast - from Upstate New York to the Central Coast of California. 

At present, Erika resides in the Monterey Bay area with her husband and a tabby pet cat. Her father Kevin Mahoney was among the ten unfortunate victims of the Boulder shooting, for which 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa was arrested on suspicion. 

While reminiscing her dear father with a heavy heart, she thanked the Boulder Police for their kind support "through his painful tragedy". before concluding, "I love your forever Dad. You are always with me," she wrote.
