BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY: A new controversy has erupted about Erich Schwer, one of the finalists vying for Gabby Windey's affection this season on 'The Bachelorette.' According to new text messages obtained from his ex-girlfriend Amanda Kaylor, Schwer allegedly joined the series only to further his career.

The Instagram account @BachelorNation.Scoop revealed screenshots of purported texts exchanged earlier this year between Erich and Amanda Kaylor, as well as images of their relationship. As per Reality Steve, who said he has spoken with Amanda over the phone, the duo met on Hinge and dated from January to March before he told her he was going on the series. "I know this isn’t ideal, I wanted to do this to see if there was something else I could do with my life." On March 10, he reportedly texted her, "I really like you Amanda. I didn’t think it would be a big deal but I understand how you feel, I’m sorry and I understand if you don’t want to see me anymore."

When she said, "You just expected me to continue dating you while you go on a reality show to ‘find love,'" Erich allegedly said, "It isn’t real, but you’re right. I am sorry I really didn’t think this all through. … I didn’t realize the implications. I am sorry I thought we could get on the same page about this. I really didn’t mean for this to hurt you." In another claimed communication, Erich informed Amanda that he was "miserable" because he was "stuck in my career path" and desired a change, which is why he agreed to be on 'The Bachelorette.'  He allegedly brought her flowers on March 22, soon before leaving for filming, to make her "smile."

Erich did not seem to contact Amanda again until July, the same month 'The Bachelorette' began. Typically, production concludes in May. "I am so sorry Amanda, what I did was terrible." On July 10, he allegedly wrote, "I don’t expect you to ever forgive me." I just want you to know I think about you all the time and you really deserve the best. I won’t ever forgive myself I hope you find happiness and everything you deserve." Amanda claims she shared the screenshot to "shine a light on his true character" ahead of the 'Bachelorette' finale and 'After the Final Rose' special. Erich has yet to respond publicly to the claims. This is not Erich's first time on the hot seat. He earlier apologized after a photo of him in Blackface from his high school yearbook surfaced.

"I wholeheartedly apologize for the insensitive photo of me in Blackface from my high school yearbook that has been circulating," he said on Instagram on September 8. "What I thought at the time was a representation of my love for Jimi Hendrix, was nothing but ignorance. I was naïve to the hurtful implications of my actions to the Black community and those closest to me, and will forever regret my offensive and damaging behavior. I am deeply ashamed by my actions and understand that my apology is only the first step in taking accountability."

Who is Amanda Kaylor?

The blonde woman is a single parent to her son, August, whom she frequently raved over on Instagram. "Mama to August," her bio says, alongside a sweet photo of the two. Amanda and her child have the nicest time together, from movie dates to days at the beach. Amanda enjoys outdoor activities in her spare time when she is not being a full-time mother. The Santa Monica resident likes dirt biking and skiing, as per her Instagram. She even has Instagram Highlights for both sports. Amanda shared a picture of herself among flower fields with a comment that appeared to be a dig at her ex. "How I smile knowing im not getting engaged for clout," the caption for May 2022 stated.

Amanda seems to have turned her Instagram account private shortly after chatting with Reality Steve. Even while social media is bashing Erich for doing Gabby dirty, his fans quickly defended him by slamming Amanda for coming forth with her allegation right before the finale. Fans on Twitter were quick to react to the "Mullet-man" and him getting strangled in two back to back controversies. One Bachelorette fan wrote: "I 100% thought @GameOfRosesPod talking about Erich’s controversy was the girlfriend thing because I forgot about the yearbook thing. That man had two scandals in one week. #TheBachelorette."

Some fans are now doubting if the show will address this controversy just like they did Nate's on the second part of the finale set to air on September 20: "They was quick to call Nate out about the rumors with his ex but I'm sure they will not bring up Erich situation with this other lady nor his racist behavior. He will get to skate by to keep his image clean. #thebachelorette." A fan also questioned Erich's motives of going on the show when his father (who passed on July 6) was ill at the time: "it doesn't make sense, so Erich has or had a girlfriend but he decides to participate in a reality show to meet a person knowing that his father is DYING and who is likely not to see him again before the end of filming, if it's true it's horrible #TheBachelorette." Seeing how Erich's reasoning to be on the show, one fan wrote: "Ugh ok so is this just Erich starting an acting career?! He never felt that this was real, or at least didn’t go into it that way? This sucks. #TheBachelorette."
