Eric Trump is now speaking out about his father Donald Trump following reports that the White House was showing favoritism towards various companies, special interest groups and leaders who had invested into Trump's personally owned commercial properties.

A New York Times report that had been released on Saturday, October 10, had gone into detail about how POTUS Trump had been using his position to create new streams of income through his hotels and golf courses. People said that he has been rewarding groups and people who had invested in his properties, these are claims which Trump's son, has disputed.

While speaking to ABC's 'This Week', Eric addressed the New York Times article and spoke to Jonathan Karl. Eric said, "We've lost a fortune. My father has lost a fortune running for president. He doesn't care. He wanted to do what was right. The last thing I can tell you Donald Trump needs in the world is this job."

"He wakes up in the morning, and he has to fight you, and he has to fight the entire media. He has to fight the Democrats, and he gets punched in the head every single day," Eric added. He then shared, "We're a hospitality company. We've got tens of millions of people staying at our properties every single year. The New York Times is absolute fake news. All they want to do is take down my father."

Many social media users objected to Eric's comments and took to slamming him across Twitter. One such user had written, "America lost over 210,000+ Americans, that’s countless families, children, moms, dads, grandparents....but dad ‘lost a fortune’, is he ok? how’s he coping? does he need anything (besides a vote, the only thing he cares about)? @EricTrump @realDonaldTrump #FailedPresident."

Another social media user had commented and written, "@EricTrump Your Father voluntarily ran for President. Don't boohoo and be a crybaby, if he lost a fortune. The 212000 Americans who lost their lives because of him don't care, nor do most people with functioning hearts and souls. It's not about the $$$, dumbass."

"@EricTrump Trump HAS lost a fortune. He lost it bankrupting casinos and buying up properties that didn’t make money. He is as bad a businessman as he is a president. Eric can whine all he wants, but it is his father’s own fault. The Trump family is stupid and unable to learn," commented another outraged user.

Yet another outraged social media user chimed in and said, "@EricTrump Your dad hasn’t lost a fortune. You and your incompetent brother have lost billions in opportunity while your father’s 421 million dollar debt continues to mount. Who does he owe? Putin? China?"

Another user who echoed the same sentiments had shared, "Eric is a corrupt, chronic liar who was raised by another corrupt, chronic liar. Don't believe a word he says." Commenting on Eric's statement that his dad never needed this role, one said: "He "needs this job" to stay out of prison. Future generations will know trump is the worst president ever."

The NYT article is said to be a part of the publication's investigation into Trump's taxes and had stated that "60 customers with interests at stake before the Trump administration brought his family business nearly $12 million during the first two years of his presidency". They had added that "almost all saw their interests advanced, in some fashion, by Mr Trump or his government."

The report talked of a  'pay-to-play culture' permeating his presidency, stating that "Trump turned his own resorts into the Beltway’s new back rooms, with companies and other special-interest groups spending millions booking conferences and rooms at his hotel in Washington and other properties, and on membership fees at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida."
