Emmys 2019: Phoebe Waller-Bridge wins Outstanding Writing for a Comedy series

Waller-Bridge created, wrote and starred in the show in the title role

It has happened. The beloved Phoebe Waller-Bridge has finally done it. The extremely talented actress, producer and writer won her Emmy 2019 nomination for Outstanding Writing For a Comedy Series for 'Fleabag'. 

In what is a big win for Waller-Bridge's brainchild -- which was first written as a 10-minute routine for a stand-up night and then evolved into this marvellous show -- the actress won her Emmy 2019 nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. 

"I find writing really really hard and really painful," Waller-Bridge started her acceptance speech, which called for guffaws from the audience.  

"I'd like to say just honestly, from the bottom of my heart, that the reason that I do it is this," she said. "So it's all really made it worth it, guys. Thank you so much."

The actress went on to thank the team behind the show for its success. "I want to say a huge thank you to 'Fleabag' family who have been behind every single word of this."

Fans all over the world cannot contain the big win. "Give everything to 'Fleabag'," said one fan. "I’m so happy that #PhoebeWallerBridge and Fleabag are getting the recognition they deserve. That show is everything," said another
