Elton John calls Michael Jackson 'mentally ill' and claims the singer had 'totally lost his marbles'
Elton John is soon going to release his new memoir titled. 'Me: Elton John' in which he details his battle with drug abuse. The singer also noted the details of him meeting Michael Jackson just prior to his death. John noted that he had met Jackson when he was a teen but it wasn't until his later years when he got the opportunity to interact with him. However, there was one thing that John wanted to know after meeting Jackson and that was, what "prescription drugs he was being pumped full of.”
According to Radar Online, John did not have a good impression of Jackson as he reportedly mentioned in his book, "He was genuinely mentally ill, a disturbing person to be around." He further added that according to him, Jackson had “totally lost his marbles” in the 2000s. However, John added that their previous meetings were also not great.
He noted that when he met the King of pop in the 90s he appeared to be ill. "The poor guy looked awful, really frail and ill,” he remarked. However, one thing that stood out for John was the make-up the singer had applied as he noted it made me look like a "maniac".
John noted that Jackson's nose was “covered with sticking plaster." The singer further noted that things got a bit weird when Jackson left the table "without a word". After searching for a while, John found out that Jackson was playing with his housekeeper's son. “For whatever reason, he couldn’t seem to cope with the adult company at all,” he noted.
In his book, John also spoke about how cocaine made him "irresponsible and self-obsessed," as reported by Daily Mail. The singer confessed that he got addicted to the substance because of the euphoric feeling it got him. "My appetite for the stuff was unbelievable — enough to attract comment in the circles I was moving in. Given that I was a rock star spending a lot of time in Seventies LA, this was a not inconsiderable feat," he noted.
John noted that one loses control over their actions when they start getting addicted to drugs. "You become unreasonable and irresponsible, self-obsessed, a law unto yourself. It's your way or the highway. It's a horrible drug," he said.
