FREMONT, CALIFORNIA:  A tragic report is coming from Fremont, where a five-year-old died after being shot by a stray bullet. The victim was later identified as Eliyanah Crisostomo who was on her way to attend a birthday dinner with her family. The incident took place at 6.40 pm, on Saturday night, on Interstate 880. According to the parents, the child was struck by gunfire and she passed away within 30 seconds.

Crisostomo was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased by the medical attendant. Investigators closed portions of I-880 over the next few hours and said on Sunday, April 9, they were still investigating. A GoFundMe page was set up by a family friend, which shared Eliyanah was traveling with her family on southbound 880 to the Outback restaurant in Milpitas for a birthday dinner at the time when the shooting occurred.

'Fun-loving little girl who loved life'

"Eliyanah was a fun-loving little girl who loved life, had a giving heart, close with her three siblings, especially her brother who were 11 months apart. Both were so excited for Easter before the family was torn to pieces by this tragic event. Eliyanah would have been 6 on the 21st of April," read her public funding page.

As per Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price, shots were fired 154 times on Bay Area freeways in 2022. Her office is looking into charges they will be pressing in the freeway death of another child Jasper Wu, 23-month-old. The boy died on November 6, 2021, during a freeway shootout between shooters in two other vehicles. Trevor Green, 22, of Richmond; Ivory Bivins, 24, of Vallejo; and Johnny Jackson, 28, of Richmond were named three suspects by the authorities, and face murder charges, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, as per CBS News.
