Woman's funeral turns horror show after 'son' rams car into mourners and tips over casket
RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA: A funeral of an elderly woman at Contra Costa County cemetery inside Rolling Hills Memorial Park turned into a massive brawl on August 6 when an unidentified family member, who is considered to be the woman’s son, stormed the service, ran over one of the attendees with a car and tipped over the casket. This led to one injury, one arrest and $20K in damage.
According to Daily Mail, the son started a fight with his sister. He, then, got back into his car and tried to hit her. Instead, the man hit another attendee, who suffered injuries. The Richmond Police Department said in a Facebook post that it responded to the Rolling Hills Memorial Park after they learned several reports of a "chaotic altercation." "It appeared to be a family drama. The suspect was hit with a cane," a spokesperson of Richmond Police Department told Daily Mail.

Confirming this, Sergeant Aaron Pomeroy of the Richmond Police Department, told reporters, “A family member [one of the other attendees] brought a stun gun to the services because of longstanding family issues." He added, "He gets into an argument with his sister, the sister’s boyfriend comes to the rescue. [The suspect] gets into a fight with the sister’s boyfriend and punches him. At some point, [the suspect] goes back to his vehicle and gets in it.”
Police say the man caused around $20,000 in damage to the cemetery as the rampage with the vehicle resulted in some cemetery headstones being knocked over. As per NBC, the sergeant said, "He drove over some headstones, damaged some headstones, severed a water main, caused flooding in the area before they could shut the water off." The officials said, the man also reportedly knocked over the casket.
The manager of Rolling Hills, Kamilah Thompson, told NBC it was a “bizarre incident” and not anything the cemetery would tolerate. She said, “Do not worry at all, your loved ones interned here are very safe and our staff is here to assist any of the families."
After the brawl, police arrested the man on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and making threats of great bodily harm. All three allegations would be felonies if charged, according to the reports by The Mercury News.
