El Chapo's top assassin known as 'Kim Kardashian of organized crime' died of drug overdose, was not assassinated
According to the attorney general in northwestern Mexico, Claudia Ochoa Felix, El Chapo's top female assassin who was found dead in her lover’s bed in the Mexican city of Culiacan, overdosed on illegal drugs and was not assassinated, as was earlier suspected.
It was initially reported that Felix, 35, who allegedly led the hit squad of the Sinaloa Cartel after the Mexican drug lord was extradited to the United States, partied with a male companion later on Friday before spending the night at his house. When he found her unconscious the next day, he alerted the authorities.
Juan José Rios Estavillo, Sinaloa State Attorney General revealed on Monday that "an analysis of the various [substances] this person consumed" was carried out by the forensic team in the case "and they tested positive. All of this compromised her organisms which caused the death. But what we can assure is that the death specifically derived from a non-violent cause."
However, his office refrained from releasing the names of the illegal drugs taken by Felix, Daily Mail reported.
The man on whose bed the rumored assassin was found dead in fully cooperated with the authorities regarding the investigation and consequently has been cleared of any wrongdoing pertaining to Felix's death.
Felix was also an Instagram star who was also known as the "Kim Kardashian of organized crime." She was also referred to by a host of other names, including "Emperatriz de Los Antrax" and "Anthrax Empress".
While some reports said that she was married, others said she was romantically linked to José Rodrigo Arechiga, also known as "El Chino Antrax," who founded "Los Ántrax," an armed gang that now protects Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, the co-founder of El Chapo's Sinaloa Cartel. Felix was a mother-of-three.
There were reports that the brunette beauty who worked as a model also used to carry out hits on targets ordered by Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael El Mayo Zambada.
She has time and again denied affiliations with any criminal groups, once writing on Twitter that the allegations against her were “cowardly lies and slander". However, at the same time, she had fueled the rumors by posting pictures of herself with a pink AK-47.
After her death, her Twitter and Instagram accounts have been switched to private. Her Facebook page, however, remains active and accessible.
