Eight puppies found covered in thick toxic tar and struggling to breathe on the streets rescued after several hours
The puppies had tar covering their eyes, and in their noses and mouths, and were likely to die if the rescue team had not attended to them in time
The story of eight stray puppies being rescued from a pool of tar they were stuck in by heroic volunteers in south-west India has gladdened many hearts and is receiving much media play.
According to the India chapter of Humane Society International, their team worked for hours to rescue, clean and treat the puppies after they were discovered covered in thick, black tar in Tirur in the state of Kerala.
It is believed that a barrel of tar collapsed near where the puppies were sleeping, covering the hapless creatures in the sticky material. The society stated that the puppies were struggling in the goop for almost eight hours before they were found.
