Netflix has a knack for treating its subscribers with engaging content and that’s why the platform’s catalog gets expanded substantially every week. One genre that the streaming giant has started focusing on recently is Anime. The genre has millions of fans around the globe and has turned out to become a global phenomenon.

The streaming service is expanding its anime catalog by adding the highly-anticipated series ‘Edens Zero’. The upcoming Japanese anime series is the adaptation of the manga series of the same name by author Hiro Mashima. It revolves around a young boy Shiki and his life in the Granbell Kingdom. However, his life changes when he comes in contact with a girl named Rebecca. She is the first human contact that Shiki had in almost a hundred years.  Additionally, his life is in danger when he is caught in the middle of a robotic rebellion. What will he do to save himself? Will Rebecca help him?

Release date and how to watch

It should be noted that the series has already premiered in Japan and only one episode remains to be telecasted. However, Netflix will release the entire season internationally on Thursday, August 26 at 3 am EST. Viewers can download the Netflix app from Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

Plot

"In the Granbell Kingdom, inside of an abandoned amusement park, the young boy Shiki has lived his entire life amongst the machines and animatronics. Unbeknownst to Rebecca, and her cat companion Happy, who are exploring the park, they are the first human contact that Shiki has had in a hundred years. When Shiki’s home becomes the center of a robotic rebellion, it becomes too dangerous for him to stay, so he joins Rebecca and Happy in their spaceship as they travel the cosmos."

Cast

An English-dubbed cast hasn’t been announced yet, but the Japanese cast has been revealed so let’s take a look at that. Takuma Terashima is voicing the protagonist Shiki while Mikako Komatsu is lending her voice to Rebecca Bluegarden. Meanwhile, Shiki Aoki and Hiromichi Tezuka will be voicing Homura Kougetsa and Weisz Steiner on the show.

Rie Kugimiya (Happy), Shiori Izawa (EM Pino), and Sayaka Ohara (Elsie Crimson) are some of the actors who’ll be appearing on the show as well.

Creators

The anime show is based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. The series is being helmed by Shinji Ishihara and Yushi Suzuki. Meanwhile, Mitsutaka Hirota has written the script.
