EasyJet stewardess threatens family with $121 fine if they 'can't control their child' during flight

The video of the confrontation quickly went viral after it was captured by 'Apprentice' star Luisa Zissman

An EasyJet stewardess was caught on camera allegedly threatening a family with a $121 fine if they didn't somehow control their child.

The incident reportedly unfolded during a flight from France to the United Kingdom when the attendant lost her patience after a family, who did not speak English very well, "failed to control" a little boy standing on the seat with no shoes.

The video of the altercation was captured by 'Apprentice' star Luisa Zissman, who shared it on her Instagram page and criticized the stewardess for going on a "disgusting power trip." The video and post have since been taken down.

In her post, the mother-of-three also said that the seat belt signs were not on at the time of the incident.

"Here is the EasyJet jobsworth woman," she wrote.

"Such bad form. For the record the seatbelt sign was NOT on, this family was not English & their English was limited. It was totally out of order intimidating behavior[sic]."

She said the young boy was just standing on the seat and looking at other members of his family who were seated behind him and that he "wasn't crying or making any noise or fuss."

"Poor little mite & poor parents!" she wrote, adding that it was hard enough flying with a young child without "having some idiot harass you."

"The first thing she said which I sadly didn't get on camera was 'IF YOU CAN'T CONTROL YOUR CHILD AND STOP HIM STANDING ON THE SEAT I WILL FINE YOU £100 FOR CLEANING' the little boy didn't even have shoes on!" Zissman posted.

"If she said that to me I would have got £100 and stuck it in her big gob," she continued.

"Travelling with children is so stressful, all the bollocks about safety was a load of crap so she could attempt to justify her disgusting power trip."

Zissman said that, after she uploaded a video of the incident, she was also contacted by other families who had had a bad experience with the same stewardess.

Social media users, however, were mostly on the stewardess' side and criticized Zissman for shaming someone who was doing their job.

"I'm in full accord with the actions of the stewardess. It's only the self-entitled, virtue signallers out there who are attempting to claim the moral high ground," one wrote.

"But then, this is Zissman and we all know what she thinks of herself."

"People need to learn how to behave on a plane," another posted.

"Very different environment from a bus or front bar in a pub. Have a little respect and you might get it back. Stewardess did the right thing. Time for people to grow up!"

A spokesperson for the airline similarly insisted there was no malice in the stewardess' actions.

"It is clear from the video the crew member is concerned for the safety of the child so requested that they either stand on the floor or sit on the seat," the spokesperson said.

"We don't charge customers for cleaning."

"We are sorry if the manner in which the crew member explained this caused offense," they continued. "The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority."
