'Dynasty' Season 3: Fans are pretty bummed to see Daniella Alonso become the third actress to play Cristal Jennings

The character of Cristal Jennings has a new face with Daniella Alonso, taking on the part after Ana Brenda Contreras played the role in season two.
UPDATED OCT 14, 2019

The third season of 'Dynasty' premiered on The CW on October 11 and it brought some huge shocking revelations to the fore — right from corpses in the lake to a shocking arrest. What's more, the character of Cristal Jennings has a new face with Daniella Alonso, taking on the part after Ana Brenda Contreras played the role in season two.

In July 2019, Dynasty showrunner Josh Reims announced: "Unfortunately, Ana Brenda Contreras will not be returning for the third season of Dynasty due to personal reasons. We'd like to thank her for her contributions to the show and wish her all the best. We're excited to welcome Daniella Alonso who will step into the role of Cristal."

Originally, Nathalie Kelley was the first one to be cast as Cristal, Blake Carrington's (Grant Show) girlfriend. After her exit from the show, Cristal was shown to be an impostor who died in a fire in the Season 1 finale. It was never fully revealed why she chose to walk out, but the actress did tell E! News after her departure, "I've got my life back."

Fans are quite perplexed to see a new face for Cristal Jennings every season and have expressed their disappointment over it on Twitter. "How many times are y’all gonna replace cristal WTF?!" one viewer wrote and another posted, "Is there literally going to be a new actress playing the role of Cristal in every season of Dynasty?" Remembering Nathalie, one fan wrote, "Dynasty has a ‘new’ Cristal every season and its really annoying as hell. Just please bring back Nat Kelly already!!!"

"Dynasty really thought getting a new Cristal each season was a good idea? Nat and Ana were superior there is no need for a third one I’m tired," another fan wrote on the micro-blogging site. Another tweet read: "The fact that there’s a new Cristal on Dynasty every season is the one thing that bothers me the most."

Another viewer dissected Daniella's role and posted, "Okay but Cristal 3.0 being about ten years older than 2.0 and not having an accent is so irksome. The inconsistency dddd. Anyway. Still think I like her though. She just, of course, feels like a brand new character rather than a re-cast #Dynasty."

As the season proceeds on The CW every Friday at 9 pm ET, it is yet to be seen whether third time's a charm for the new Cristal on 'Dynasty'. What are your thoughts about it?
