‘Dynasty’ on Netflix: ‘Bring James Mackay back!’ Fans start petition for Steven Carrington's beloved character
‘Dynasty’ is the No 1 show trending after Season 3 premiered on Netflix. From talking about Daniella Alonso become the third actress to play Cristal Jennings to Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies) and Liam Ridley's (Adam Huber) love story, fans can't get over all the twists and turns.
Keeping all the drama and betrayal aside, viewers are disappointed that their favorite character, Steven Carrington, was not even mentioned. Has the Carrington family forgotten him and will no one ever find out Adam Carrington's foul play? While fans who binge-watched the show on Netflix started talking about it now, hard-core fans who followed the weekly episodes on The CW pointed it out long back.
A petition to bring back James Mackay — the actor who played the role of Steven — was started by fans. It reads, "On November 9th, The CW network announced that James Mackay wouldn't be returning to play the role of Steven Carrington on Dynasty. The character of Steven (and James's portrayal of him) was greatly loved and appreciated by viewers. His sweet, moral center was an essential element to the show, in contrast to the usually self-centered antics of the other Carringtons."
"Steven's romance with Sammy Jo (Rafael De La Fuente) was hugely popular with fans and James and Rafael brought warmth and heart to every scene they shared. They were the *only* LGBTQ representation on the show and watching their storyline play out - falling in love, getting married - was hugely important to fans who are still struggling for acceptance." Fans continued, "It is our opinion that James Mackay should be allowed to continue playing Steven Carrington and that NO ONE ELSE should replace him in the role. It would be insulting to the fans who have loved Steven and to the actor who won us over with his performances. Please sign the petition if you agree!"
The petition already has 1,295 supporters and it is looking to fulfill its goal of completing 1,500. More recently, a lot more fans from all across the globe caught sight of it and posted their thoughts. One wrote, "I love his character and it would be horrible if they recast," and another said, "Because his character is essential, with all the chaos happening his caring and honest nature balances the whole drama."
Many miss Steven and Sam together. One wrote, "Steven and Sam were a wonderful couple," and another said, "BECAUSE STEVEN IS THE BEST CHARACTER DAMN IT AND JAMES MACKAY IS THE ONLY STEVEN THAT WILL MAKE ANY SENSE."
Many more viewers have unleashed their thoughts on Twitter. "Steven from #Dynasty is singe, gay and apparently still in Paris? I’m on my way now. Call me misses Carrington already," one said and another irate fan wrote, "Calling it now Anders is on his way to Steven which he'll bring back home. But they'll change the actor because that's #Dynasty we're talking about."
