'DWTS' Britney Week: Mel C dances to 'Toxic', fans dub it a '90s dream world'

Mel C dedicated her performance to girl power while fans felt the judges could go easy on her

Britney Spears was arguably one of the biggest stars on the music scene back in the '90s. If anyone else could give her a run for her money, it would have had to be the Spice Girls, who were just as big as a global phenomenon. For all the '90s kids, Britney Week of 'Dancing With The Stars' was exceptionally exciting -- it featured Spice Girl Mel C performing to an iconic Britney song!

For Mel C, having lived the life of a pop star, she in more ways than one understands Britney. This performance was all about girl power as she thinks Britney is a girl power icon. Mel C even got vulnerable on camera and spoke about how women tend to be so hard on themselves and was going to give it her best. She and pro Gleb Savchenko danced the Tango to 'Toxic' by Britney Spear.

Here's what the judges had to say -- Len Goodman felt the entire performance kept stopping and starting; however, the duo finished on a solid note. Bruno Tonioli compared it to the starship Enterprise, saying that it was above and beyond and even Carrie Ann Inaba felt as though her form was great. However, she did point out that Mel C needs to let go of her tension while dancing, as it shows in her performance. 

Fans were thrilled to see their ultimate '90s fantasy -- A Spice Girl dancing to a Britney song comes to life. "Mel C need 10s cause that’s how you do a performance #dwts" tweeted a fan. "I don't have expectations for #DWTS but Mel C + Britney = my whole 5th grade existence, sooo" tweeted another. "Mel C dancing to Britney Spears - 90s dream worlds colliding!  #DWTS" agreed a fan. 

Although Mel C seems to come up a bit short when compared to JoJo Siwa and Amanda Kloots with regard to scores, fans think she has what it takes to go all the way and even grab the Mirrorball, making her the possible dark horse of the season. "The fact that mel c got toxic tells me the producers really like her. toxic is arguably britney spears most iconic song and it won britney her first grammy. keep your eyes on mel c to pull a sneak attack and win the mirrorball! #DWTS" tweeted a fan. "Does anyone else get winner vibes from mel c and gleb? i know it's only week 3 but they have amazing chemistry so far and i really do think they could win. gleb has a shot at his first mirrorball! #DWTS" they added.

Speaking of the other performances, fans also pointed out that the judges were possibly too harsh with their criticism when it came to Mel C's dances in general. "Panel be like: Hey Mel C we love you and we know that you were in the most iconic girl group in the world in the '90s you're a fantastic dancer but because were picky bitches work on this Me: #DWTS" tweeted a fan. "They are so HARD on Mel C for some reason when she’s been giving us fantastic dancing week after a week. #DWTS," agreed another.
