Heroin addict who mugged and killed a 100-year-old Holocaust survivor for cash jailed for 15 years

A drug addict, who killed a 100-year-old Holocaust survivor, in a violent mugging attempt last year has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to reports. The accused, identified as 40-year-old Artur Waszkiewicz, snatched pensioner Zofija Kaczan's handbag as she was walking to a church service in Normanton, Derby on May 28, 2018.
Kaczan suffered multiple injuries during the incident, including a broken neck and fractured cheekbone. The centenarian's condition eventually deteriorated and she died from pneumonia in June. Kaczan was reportedly a Holocaust survivor and she fled a Nazi death camp in the Second World War.
