'Dream Home Makeover': Is Josh Newbury and Omar Poole's apartment the best? Here's how to make your space snazzy
Season 2 of 'Dream Home Makeover' is officially here and rest assured, the renovations featured this time around are just as gorgeous as ever. One story that particularly caught our eye had to be that of Episode 2's Omar Poole and Josh Newbury. The couple seemed like the sweetest, as they told viewers that they had been together for seven years. Their first date was at a corn maze — a Utah classic idea of sorts.
We get a glimpse of the couple's absolutely stunning mid-century home at the start of the episode when Shea visits them. She says that the area Mill Creek happens to be known for mid-century homes, so it comes as no surprise that Omar and Josh own one in the same style. However, their place is really something else, with its gorgeous minimal decor, large open space and tons of natural light. The house, which dates back to 1956, really has a beautiful charm and the couple has retained a lot of its original characteristics while giving it the ultimate modern facelift.
The couple has a cabin out back, which they are hoping to convert into a studio apartment for Omar's mother. Omar reveals that he's quite close to his mother, seeing that she's a single parent who raised him on her own and was always there for him. As she's gotten older he wants to have her around, but at the same time understands that she needs her own space.
While Shea was all praises for the couple's home, we see her very own talent absolutely shine through when she designs the cabin, making the space nearly unrecognizable. It looked so good, that even Omar and Josh almost considered moving into the new space themselves.
Here's what the space looked like before.
And this is the after picture. It's like night and day if you ask us!
We see a lot of classic Studio McGee styles at play here.
Shea's love for all things white
It's no secret that Shea loves painting everything white and we get it. White reflects light and instantly brightens up any space, making it look so much bigger, and allows you to get creative with decor.
Walnut tones offer the perfect contrast
Having wooden floors, much like Shea's own home, she opts for walnut colored cabinets to perfectly accentuate and add vibrancy to the room. It definitely does the trick and the perfect amount of color to her otherwise white canvas
Mix and match is the way to go
Shea is big on mixing it up and not letting spaces get stuck in any particular era. Through interesting light fixtures and kitchen elements, she makes the spaces not only look gorgeous and interesting but also adds a few fun elements to the mix.
It's safe to say that the couple absolutely loved the place, including Omar's mom, who they video called. It's a stunning apartment, Shea really is a design wiz!
