The second season of 'Dr. Romantic' follows the same format as the first one. It sees a young doctor, Seo Woo-jin (Ahn Hyo-seop) come to terms with the reality of serving as a doctor in South Korea where capitalism reigns everywhere. Doctors are not respected for their skill, but for their connections. At this time, he meets Kim Sabu (Han Suk-kyu), a doctor who is unlike any that he has met before and his journey at Doldam Hospital takes off.

We also have Dr. Cha Eun-jae (Lee Sung-kyung), who has been sent to Doldam Hospital as a punishment for falling asleep in the operating room. The hospital, considering that it is located on the outskirts is not the most appropriate choice for an ambitious doctor, but Dr. Cha has no choice. How the three of them come together to fight Dr. Do Yoon-wan (Choi Jin-ho) is the main plot of the series.

Despite having kicked Dr. Do from an influential position in the first season, he is back and this time, he has a lot more power to play with. Kim Sabu, on the other hand, doesn't even have good doctors to help him out because his mentees have already parted ways and are off working in different places. That leaves Kim Sabu only one option. To scout for new doctors and train them. One of the doctors that Kim Sabu hires is Dr. Seo. His parents committed suicide when he was young and that is a traumatic experience that he lives with even today. He is also followed by loan sharks everywhere he goes.

He is financially strapped and in a moment of desperation, agrees to work at Doldam Hospital if he can get some money in advance of his payday. That's the beginning of this chapter of 'Dr. Romantic'. While the previous season took its time to set a back story for the main characters, in the latest edition we jump right in. Even Dr. Cha's reaction to the sight of blood, which is nausea followed by dizziness is not attributed to any particular incident or fear.

In week 3, Dr. Seo and Dr. Cha will experience their first Friday in Doldam hospital. Those of you who have seen the first season of the show know how chaotic things can get and that is exactly what happens this time around as well. One patient after another end up in the emergency ward and Kim Sabu finds himself short-staffed because Dr. Seo initially refuses to treat a patient who attempted suicide with his family. This patient's story hits very close to home for Dr. Seo and he is unable to think beyond the hatred that he has fed and felt over the years. Despite Kim Sabu repeatedly asking him to treat the patient, Dr. Seo is hesitant. However, after nurse Kim Eun-tak implores him to rethink his decision as a doctor, he comes forward and takes up the surgery.

Dr. Cha, who couldn't stay in the operating room for more than 15 minutes receives pills from Kim Sabu that he explains will help with her nausea. Armed with the new pills which will not make her drowsy, Dr. Cha enters the surgery, serves as the first assistant and successfully wraps it up too and this is definitely a cause to celebrate for Dr. Cha.

However, there is conflict brewing underneath all of this and that is Dr. Do's attempts to remove Kim Sabu from Doldam Hospital. After trying to thwart Kim Sabu's attempts at saving the life of a minister failed, Dr. Do has found a way to mess with people at Doldam Hospital by firing their director, Yeo Woon-young (Kim Hong-fa). He is replaced by Dr. Park Min-hyuk (Kim Joo-hun), whose aim is to beat Kim Sabu at something. What we will now see is if Dr. Park can manage the hospital that sees patients of different kinds with symptoms and diseases that are more complicated than the ones that Dr. Park is accustomed to.

'Dr. Romantic 2' Episodes 7 and 8 will air on Monday and Tuesday respectively at 10 p.m. KST on SBS.
