Hours after Dorinda Medley, a longtime star of 'The Real Housewives of New York City', announced her exit from the popular show, it is being reported that she was fired because she had become a "mean drunk." Page Six on Wednesday, August 26, reported sources as saying that Medley would become mean when drunk on the show.

The star was reportedly "blindsided" by the news that she was being removed by the Bravo show after featuring in it for six seasons. Reports state that Medley had been filming for an episode of ABC’s “The $100,000 Pyramid” when she got received a call about her removal.

Medley announced her departure from the long-running show on Tuesday, August 25, revealing how it helped her deal with the loss of her late husband Richard. "All things must come to an end … Thank you to Bravo and NBC for the incredible ride," Dorinda wrote on her official Facebook page. "What a journey this has been. I have laughed and cried and tried to Make it Nice,” Dorinda wrote on her official Facebook page this morning. “This was a great outlet for me to heal when my late husband Richard passed away.”

The outlet reported sources as saying that Medley would repeatedly make fun of Luann de Lesseps for her alcohol-involved arrest and she often surprised her castmates by failing to acknowledge that she was overstepping the line. De Lesseps has publicly struggled with alcoholism and has entered multiple times during her tenure on the show. "If she’d have said [at the end of the season], ‘Look — I’ve been depressed and that’s why I’m acting like this,’ or, ‘I miss my [husband, Richard, who died in 2011],’ and said she’d work on it, I think it would have been different," the source told Page Six, adding that she had become a "mean drunk."

"That’s just not where they want the show to go," the insider said, adding that the executives did not want another season which involved Medley’s abrasive behavior and has now decided to look for a new face for the show. “In this climate of social justice and cancel culture, she was not a good representative of the show or the network," another source told the outlet.

Medley, who mentioned her late husband in her departure announcement, reportedly carried the hurt of her husband's loss in one her earliest appearances on the show, and has rarely opened up about how Richard's demise affected her. The star, during a chat with her former castmate Carole Radziwill, had once revealed that losing Richard had left a hole in her life, which she has struggled to fill ever since. The star married her second husband Richard Medley, a successful hedge fund manager and a former business partner of George Soros, in 2005. Dorinda was previously married to investment banker Ralph Lynch first, with whom she had a daughter. Her marriage with Lynch, however, did not last long.

Medley, in her departure announcement on Tuesday, also wrote: "I have met so many interesting people and learned so much about myself, about life and about women along the way,” she added. The star, despite the constant feuding on the show, wished her castmates “health, happiness, and success” in the years to come.
