Spoilers for 'Doom Patrol' Season 2 Episode 5 'Finger Patrol'

The latest episode of DC Universe's 'Doom Patrol' Season 2 has dropped a major cliffhanger of an ending that's going to have serious consequences for our heroes. The worst part of it all is that the episode started out with the promise of a beautiful friendship before things went south. In Episode 5 'Finger Patrol', a session with Niles Caulder / The Chief (Timothy Dalton) leads to Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) bringing out her childlike alter Baby Doll. Seeing how lonely and sad Baby Doll is, Niles decides to hit two birds with one stone by introducing his daughter Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro) to Baby Doll.

Initially, it seemed as if everything was going fine. Dorothy has wanted a friend for so long and Baby Doll, with her youthful enthusiasm, seemed like the perfect fit. Unfortunately, things start turning sour when Baby Doll meets one of Dorothy's imaginary friends and ends up offending Dorothy by being "impolite". Guess the Chief forgot that children spend as much time fighting as they do playing.

In Dorothy and Baby Doll's case, this fighting turns into something a lot worse than your average playground drama. Baby Doll unleashes her powers, seemingly killing one of Dorothy's friends and almost burning Dorothy alive, which causes the young girl to fight back by bringing out her worst weapon: the Candlemaker. Driven to a point of desperation, Dorothy makes a wish and unleashes the Candlemaker in the Underground, the psychic representation of Jane's mind. Finally freed after decades of being shut away, the Candlemaker obliterates both Baby Doll and Surge, another of Jane's alters.

We're not shown the aftermath of this devastating attack but we're guessing this is going to cause some major damage to Jane's already fragile psyche. For all we know, this might just push her over the edge and cause a full-on mutiny among her alters. What's worse is that the Candlemaker is now one step closer to being released into the world. We don't know if this wish did the trick or if it will take more but one way or another, the Candlemaker is going to find his way to the real world and that could very well mean the end of life as we know it.

'Doom Patrol' Season 2 streams new episodes on Thursdays on DC Universe and HBO Max.
