After a fantastic first season, DC's strangest heroes are all set for Round 2. 'Doom Patrol' Season 1 ended with some major revelations, including the treachery of The Chief / Niles Caulder (Timothy Dalton) and the defeat of Mr Nobody (Alan Tudyk) but Season 2 promises to raise the stakes higher than ever.

Season 2 will be adding a new member to the team, the Chief's daughter Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro). Her powers are as yet undefined on the show but if she's anything like her comics counterpart, Dorothy could end up dooming them all.

Dorothy in the comics is basically a reality warper, a person with the power to bend the laws of reality itself. Her powers primarily manifest as the ability to make her imaginary friends become real.

While that's a pretty world-ending power in itself, what makes young Dorothy even more dangerous is her connection to the deadly villain the Candlemaker. When she was much younger, the comic book Dorothy was contacted by the Candlemaker, a disembodied being called an egregore, who offered to grant three wishes for her.

Dorothy's first wish caused the death of a boy and ever since she worked really hard to keep the Candlemaker locked away in her mind. Of course, when the Doom Patrol is involved, everything falls apart eventually and the Candlemaker escapes, killing the Chief and wreaking havoc on the world.

If the Dorothy on the show is anything like she is in the comics, what she needs right now is a family to guide her, and as funny and adorable as the team maybe, they're all way too unstable to give her that. On the other hand, as fellow outcasts, it's possible that they might be able to understand her in a way a normal family never could, and for all we know, that might just be enough.

Here's the official synopsis for the upcoming 'Doom Patrol' Season 2: "DC’s strangest group of heroes are back again to save the world. Following the defeat of Mr Nobody (Alan Tudyk - “Harley Quinn”), the members of the Doom Patrol find themselves shrunken and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. Here they begin to deal with their feelings of betrayal by Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton - “Hot Fuzz”) while confronting their own personal baggage.

As each member faces the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family: Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro - 'Broadway Kids Against Bullying: I Have a Voice'), Niles’ daughter, whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world."

'Doom Patrol' Season 2 will debut on both DC Universe and HBO Max on June 25.
