Trump slammed for claiming he may be 'immune' to Covid-19: 'Real Americans don’t have access to what you've had'

'I stood out front. I led. I know there's a risk...But that's OK. And now I'm better. Maybe I'm immune, I don't know,' Trump declared in a Twitter video post

President Donald J. Trump sparked outrage among critics after suggesting on Monday that he might be "immune" to COVID-19 following his hospitalization for the disease at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

"I knew there's danger to it. But I had to do it. I stood out front. I led. Nobody that's a leader would not do what I did. I know there's a risk...But that's OK. And now I'm better. Maybe I'm immune, I don't know," Trump declared in a video post he shared on Twitter upon his return to the White House.

Earlier in the day, White House physician Sean Conley said the President "may not be entirely out of the woods yet" with the virus. It's worth noting that the POTUS is still recovering from the disease and will continue to receive treatment at the White House. Of course, there is no evidence that Trump is immune to the novel coronavirus. Nonetheless, his assertion did not sit well with his critics. Trump was accused of downplaying the threat of COVID-19 once again as he announced he would leave the hospital in a tweet just hours before he was discharged.

"Don't be afraid of Covid. Don't let it dominate your life," Trump tweeted at the time. "We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!"

So far, at least 13 members of Trump's inner circle have tested positive for COVID-19. According to data collected by Johns Hopkins, the United States has the highest numbers in the world with more than 7.4 million confirmed cases over 210,000 reported fatalities as of Tuesday morning. Having said that, anti-Trump Twitterati was considerably outraged at the President's suggestion that he may be "immune" to the deadly contagion. "Trump said no reason to be afraid of Covid19 and he is immune. NOT, he is still contagious. Very reckless," one wrote. "Imagine if Hermain was standing behind him. 'I may be immune.' He's not 'I opened up the country even though I knew it was dangerous' F*ck Trump," another added.

"@Morning_Joe listen keenly to tRUMP’s words in that callously staged maskless video last evening. He said 'maybe I’m immune, I don’t know' while he’s in the throes of contagiousness and shedding the virus. He says nothing about other people's safety. SELF CENTERED MANIAC," a third wrote. "'... Maybe I'm immune. I don't know ...' Six words. The first three = bullshit. The second three = finally, some truth. We know you don't know Donny. You don't know anything much at all. A more stupid, uneducated person would be hard to find. #TrumpCovidHoax? #COVID19 #Trump," a fourth tweeted. "It drives me f*cking bonkers that trump really made that video telling real Americans not to let the virus run their lives because we have the “best doctors and medical equipment” and “maybe I’m immune!” F**K YOU. Real Americans don’t have access to what you’ve had....." another chimed in.
