Trump dons high-neck coat and gloves at North Carolina rally, Internet likens him to 'Admiral Byrd'
President Donald Trump was seen dressed for the winter cold, wrapped up in layers of clothing as he delivered his campaign speech at Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Monday, November 2, although the temperature hovered around 52 degrees.
Vox reporter Aaron Rupar, who diligently follows all of the POTUS' rallies and uploads significant clips, tweeted a picture of Trump in North Carolina dressed in a black coat with a high neck layer. He also wore black leather gloves and a red MAGA cap. "It is 52 degrees right now in Fayetteville and Trump is dressed like he's speaking in Antarctica," Rupar captioned the screengrab from Fox News.

People were quick to react to the photo, as one wrote, "I get ear infections easily, I'd have something covering my ears. Otherwise, a light coat and no gloves would work for me in the low 50's." Another said, "I'm just gonna say, if the job in question were to entertain (read: lie to) a minority of American voters rather than protect an entire country of American voters, for whom he's supposed to work, he'd be winning..." A third seemed genuinely concerned for the president's heath. "It can’t be good for him to be traveling and going through such extreme temp changes after having only just recovered from COVID. I know folks in their 50s who are recovered and still having lung problems, he’s out here giving speeches (sometimes without a hat)," a user commented.

However, there were those who backed Trump for donning an attire fit for the winter, especially people who were aware of how chilly it got in North Carolina around this time of the year. Author Laurie Ruettimann wrote, "I hate Trump, but, to be fair, North Carolinians dress like that when it's 52º. My neighbors walked their dogs in Sorrell boots and North Face parkas, this morning. (This is the south. Anything under 55 is chilly!) #BidenHarris2020."
Another user was convinced that POTUS' choice to shift the official residency from New York to Florida had something to do with the weather. "That's why he moved to Florida. Happens all the time here in New England. Old folks live part time in Florida (during the winter) and up here in the summer," the user remarked. Someone else pointed out, "I would bet good money those black gloves are there to hide severe bruising." One user compared Trump to Richard E Byrd, a pioneering American aviator, polar explorer, and organizer of polar logistics. "Well if it ain't Admiral Byrd," the user said.

The 'Make America Great Again' rally at the Fayetteville Regional Airport was originally supposed to be held last week but was rescheduled due to rough weather. "In 2016, North Carolina voted to fire this corrupt political establishment," Trump told the crowd. "If I don't sound like a typical Washington politician, it's because I'm not a politician. If I don't always play by the rules of the Washington establishment, it's because I was elected to fight for you and I fight harder than any other president has ever fought for his people."
