Donald Trump tells Tucker Carlson about 'great' relations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former president Donald Trump was nowhere to be found on Debate Night at Fox News. Instead, he sat down with Tucker Carlson for a conversation about his time in office.
One of the topics brought up by Trump was the country's international relations and how, according to him, they have deteriorated under President Joe Biden's leadership.
He even praised himself for maintaining "great" ties with North Korean Supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
Donald Trump praises himself for keeping good relations with North Korea
Looking back on the time he was in office, Trump shared how he had helped the improve the country's relations with China, Russia and North Korea.
He said, "I got to know the leaders of all of the countries, essentially, but the big ones. The bigger the tougher the leader...I got to know President Xi of China and Putin and Kim Jong Un."
He further said, "Did a great job with North Korea. It kept us out of a nuclear war. We would have 40,000 dead soldiers right now."
He added, "They'd drop a nuke right on top of the military base...I did great. I got along with them great. So that's a positive."
Donald Trump claims major leaders don't like Joe Biden
Trump added that he received much criticism for getting friendly with the controversial North Korea leader.
Trump claimed, "The press said, 'He said nice things about Kim Jong Un.' I also said horrible things at the beginning, horrible enough that he wanted to talk."
He added, "And we talked and we met in Singapore...We had unbelievable meetings, I know him very well. We [America] were in great shape with him."
On the change in the office since 2020, Trump went on to say that the major leaders "can't believe" Biden has taken over the country.
Trump claimed, "I think they probably say this is some kind of a system. They had great respect for our country...When I was there, everyone one of them [respected America]."
Trump also revealed his involvement in getting North Korea involved in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Trump claimed, "The Olympics was dead. South Korea spent billions on the Olympics. Nobody was going to go."
"They didn't want to get blown up. They called me and they said, 'We are going to let the Olympics proceed,'" Trump added.
Trump claimed he suggested they join the sport tournaments.
He claimed, "Put your athletes in. They went in and they actually participated. And within about two day, the entire thing was sold out. If it wasn't for me, it would have never happened."
