In yet another example of his unconventional 'no-holds-barred' ways, President Donald Trump spoke for two hours on the night of December 19 at a rally, targeting bulbs and bathrooms. He also gave away the secret of him looking 'orange'! The president was impeached by the House of Representatives on the same day.

At the rally held in Battle Creek, Michigan, Trump said energy-efficient lightbulbs made him look orange. The crowd was in splits as the president touched upon household appliances and plumbing in his speech.

“I say, ‘Why do I always look so orange?’ You know why: because of the new light. They're terrible. You look terrible. They cost you many, many times more. Like four or five times more,” Trump said.

Trump also took on devices like the dishwasher at his Michigan rally. "Remember the dishwasher, you'd press it. Boom — there'd be like an explosion. Five minutes later, you open it up, the steam pours out. Now you press it 12 times. The women tell me, again. They give you like four drops of water.”

He also shared his opinions on faucets and showerheads.

Trump is often called USA's first 'orange' president, succeeding the first black in Barack Obama.

Trump, a staunch supporter of fossil fuel, has always stood against clean-energy-producing machinations and recently included lightbulbs and other household items to his list. His administration has been actively exploring the rolling back of efficiency standards of appliances and plumbing. It has already made a move on incandescent lightbulbs and even the White House tweeted recently: “If you like your lightbulbs, you can keep your lightbulbs!”

Targets Obama administration

The tweet also took a dig at the Obama administration, saying it tried to make the people of the US buy more expensive LED bulbs for residential use. It then credited Trump saying he gave people more freedom when it comes to using lights.

A report in the National Public Radio said the attack on Obama administration was unfair. The standards were set when George W Bush was the president, the report said and that the efficiency standards that Trump has been complaining of came in over the years and many administrations.

A lot of flushes

Trump revealed that he is not happy with modern toilet flushes that discharge less water. “Ten times right, 10 times. Bah bah,” the president said and then pointed at some person in the crowd accusing him of requiring a lot of flushes. “Not me, of course. Not me. But you. Him,” he said.

Peter Gleick of the Pacific Institute in Oakland felt Trump’s frustration originates from the fact that he no more gets to see strong showers, toilets using a whole of water and lightbulbs burning one’s hands any more, NPR reported.

However, not all did find Trump’s words out of context. Jeffrey Tucker, writer of the book ‘Bourbon for Breakfast’, felt the president was addressing a genuine problem that the people of America face.

“I thought, 'hmm, that's interesting. I've never heard a politician talk about this',” said Tucker, who is with the American Institute for Economic Research.

Tucker said he is not a fan of Trump but his “make toilets and dishwaters great again” ethos somehow appealed to him, the report added.
