WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump has ignited a fresh firestorm on social media after taking a swipe at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, referring to her as "crazy" and using an incident involving her husband, Paul Pelosi, as fodder for his latest taunt.

During a speech at the California GOP convention, Trump said to the crowd, “We’ll stand up to crazy Nancy Pelosi, who ruined San Francisco,” adding, "How’s her husband doing, by the way, anybody know?”

“She’s against building a wall at our border, even though she has a wall around her house — which obviously didn’t do a very good job,” he said, seemingly mocking the former House Speaker Pelosi.

Pelosi has emerged as a favored target of Trump's criticism, a trend that persisted during his presidency. His recent comments regarding Pelosi's spouse, Paul Pelosi, were in reference to a home invasion incident that occurred late last year, resulting in critical injuries for Paul.

Although California typically leans Democratic in general elections, it holds substantial significance in the Republican presidential primary.

During his speech, Trump voiced his disapproval of the state's Democratic leadership, declaring, "Together, we will reverse the decline of America and we will end the desecration of your once great state California. This is not a great state anymore. This is a dumping ground. You’re a dumping ground.”

Trump faced a barrage of criticism by internet users for his tactless remarks aimed at Pelosi.

One user tweeted, "For Trump to mock Paul Pelosi getting brutally attacked is the lowest. The absolute lowest."

Another added, "Evidently you don’t own a mirror."

A third claimed, "Has anyone noticed that Donald Trump never speaks anywhere that the crowd hasn’t been selected in the front row and they are people probably don’t know what he’s talking about some of are kids. Our Country don’t need what he’s offering."
