Donald Trump Jr slams CNN over claims that he's trying to take over RNC with Kimberly Guilfoyle: 'Fake as usual'
Donald Trump Jr, the eldest son of outgoing President Donald Trump, has hit out at CNN over its recent report that he and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle were trying to expand their influence at the Republican National Committee (RNC). The report by Jim Accosta cited three Republican sources to say Trump Jr and Guilfoyle, a Trump campaign fundraiser and former Fox News anchor, are trying to expand their influence and might seek to take over the party structure themselves. The duo reportedly told the campaign as well as White House officials that they were less than happy with RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel for they felt she did not do enough to win a close race.
Trump Jr was not impressed. Taking a dig at the report, the 42-year-old businessman tweeted on Tuesday, November 10 in response to Accosta who tweeted about his report: “‘LOL #fakenews as usual... Zero interest in a role at the RNC, I'll leave that to @GOPChairwoman.” In another post, he said: “If anyone believes that i want to sit in an office in DC and make fundraising calls for 18 hours a day they clearly have never met me."

Both the president and his eldest son have been using social media to criticize the results of the November 3 election which has been won by Democrat Joe Biden. They have alleged widespread voter fraud but are yet to produce any evidence to back their claim.
Trump Jr was recently seen in New York City carrying a suitcase as he returned from the campaign trail and entered Guilfoyle’s apartment. He was also seen walking into Trump Tower. The CNN report also cited the sources to add that Trump Jr and his partner could seek leadership at the RNC to influence the committee for a comeback run for the president’s office in 2024.
"Don Jr and Kimberly have an eye on the RNC, through themselves taking over or somebody close to them taking over," the report quoted a well-placed Republican Party source close to the White House as saying. Trump Jr’s aides have also denied the claims. One of them, Andrew Surabian, said it’s “100% incorrect” that Trump’s son is eyeing a role at the RNC.
McDaniel, the niece of Utah Senator Mitt Romney who is not among President Trump’s favorites, took over as the RNC chair in January 2017, when Trump also took office. She replaced Reince Preibus who went on to become the new administration’s first chief of staff but lasted for little over six months. Communication between the president’s campaign and the RNC was far off from being sound for much of the final stretch as the two sides failed to arrive at a consensus over strategy, the POLITICO reported last Saturday, November 7. The RNC felt Trump’s ads were not of good quality and made its own commercials.
But amid the president’s less-than-satisfying performance at the polls, Guilfoyle also did not escape the GOP glare. Senior campaign and party officials were upset with the president’s finance team led by Guilfoyle who was also accused as unprofessional by donors. It was reported that Guilfoyle not only berated her staff but also engaged in sexually suggestive jokes with Trump Jr that would put some donors in awkward situations.
