Donald Trump Jr. has fired back at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi after she suggested that the mental state of his father, President Donald J. Trump, may have been affected due to "steroids" administered as part of his COVID-19 treatment.

The President's eldest son raised eyebrows as he accused Pelosi of having "substance issues" herself during an appearance on Fox and Friends Wednesday, The Sun reported. Don Jr. was asked about Pelosi's suggestion, allegedly echoed by a Harvard doctor, that Trump may have been affected by corticosteroid drug Dexamethasone he's taking to treat COVID-19. “Nancy has her own substance issues according to the press and according to the media,” Trump Jr. alleged, before saying he "won't get into it" and that "it's nonsense."

On Tuesday, the House Speaker released a statement suggesting the President's mental health may have been altered due to the drugs. "There are people who thought, who think that steroids have an impact on your thinking. So, I don’t know," she said, per Politico. The same day, Harvard Global Health Institute Director Dr. Ashish Jha told Fox that he wasn't "worried about longterm effects of dexamethasone" considering "the President is going to get a short course." However, he then referred to "substantial effects" that around "30-40 percent" of people have due to the medication – including aggression, agitation, and anxiety.

"They used to call it roid rage. That was a real thing," Fox News anchor Trace Gallagher added. "And you know, a lot of bodybuilders and wrestlers have been through that.”

Trump was hospitalized over the weekend at Walter Reed Military Medical Center after testing positive for COVID-19. According to his doctors, Trump was treated with Regeneron's REGN-COV2, zinc, Vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin, and aspirin -- aside from the aforementioned corticosteroid. The POTUS returned to the White House in dramatic fashion on Monday, sending his critics into a meltdown.

Despite constant attacks from Pelosi, Trump urged the House Speaker that he was ready to sign off on a "stand-alone" coronavirus stimulus package including $1,200 checks for American citizens to pull through the ongoing crisis. "They will go out to our great people IMMEDIATELY. I am ready to sign right now. Are you listening Nancy?" Trump tweeted. "The House & Senate should IMMEDIATELY Approve 25 Billion Dollars for Airline Payroll Support, & 135 Billion Dollars for Paycheck Protection Program for Small Business," he later added.

Nonetheless, anti-Trump Twitterati rushed to Pelosi's defense after the President's eldest son accused her of having "substance issues." "Yep, the I remember evidence of the Pelosi substance abuse. Anybody else remembers it. The pure addiction man," one tweeted, sharing alongside a photo of Pelosi's fridge full of ice cream.

"He would know. The good part for Nancy Pelosi is that if she had a substance abuse issue, she has a loving family that would move heaven and earth to help her. The sad part is that Don Jr. and his DOCUMENTED substance issues will not get help because his family can't love," another alleged.

"I’m not sure the president's large adult son should be making accusations of substance abuse against anyone. I mean, the calls may be coming from inside the house, little buddy," The Daily Beast editor Molly Jong-Fast chimed in.

"Textbook gaslighting. Why is this person on TV," CNN contributor Amanda Carpenter added.
