Donald Trump Jr. has expressed his indignation at fourth-graders in South Africa being taught about masturbation and sex in schools.

Retweeting a post by Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra on Monday, November 25, Don Jr added a caption of his own, "Let kids be kids, stop this insanity!!!"

Saavedra's tweet included screenshots of an article by Times Live, titled, "Are grade 4 pupils ready to learn about sex and masturbation?" and a tweet by CBS' 'The Talk' which read, "Children as young as six are to be given compulsory self-touching lessons that will teach them about touching or 'stimulating' their own genitals. What do you think?"

This new controversial education is part of the new life-orientation curriculum, that has left South African teachers infuriated. A copy of the new syllabus which is meant to be implemented for pupils between grades 4 and 12, was leaked to the media last week.

Apart from the curriculum requiring teachers to educate students about vaginal, oral and anal sex as well as masturbation, it will also feature case studies about adults assaulting children, dangers of sexting, that is, sending, receiving or forwarding sexually explicit messages and photographs.

Johan Kruger, the operational director of SA Teachers' Union (SAOU), has called the subject matter of the curriculum inappropriate for fourth-grade kids, saying that teachers will be uncomfortable teaching the curriculum as it contains "explicit information".

"This is totally unacceptable. We have actually indicated to our members that if they are uncomfortable to teach this curriculum they can leave it out, and if there is action taken against them we will support them," he said. "The information is not applicable for children in those grades and ages."

Celebrity sex therapist Dr. Marlene Wasserman was hired by South African education minister Angie Motshekga to help develop the "cutting-edge" life-orientation curriculum.

"It is a very progressive and integrative curriculum, which means that sexuality, although a separate subject, is threaded in with other subjects and vice versa. My contribution was creating a cutting-edge curriculum based on current comprehensive sexuality education curricula globally, and together with the team adapting it for South African learners. Masturbation is normalized and it is threaded through [the curriculum] from grade 4. It begins with self-pride, self-image, body diversity, genital differences, genital changes and touching oneself for pleasure," said Wasserman.
