President Donald Trump took aim at "boring" John Legend and his "filthy-mouthed wife" Chrissy Teigen for allegedly stealing the limelight over the recent passing of the new criminal justice reforms.

Trump seemingly took offense on a segment on Lester Holt's 'NBC Nightly News' that saw the EGOT-winning singer Legend speak about FREEAMERICA, an organization that raised awareness about criminal justice reform.

Legend urged the audience and those watching to get involved with his organization and to "become voters that think about the criminal justice as an issue they can 'affect'" and to be "aware of what you governors and legislators are doing in your state" so they could "transform America's criminal justice system."

The comments irked Trump, who slammed Legend, and even his wife for some reason, in a series of tweets.

"When all of the people pushing so hard for Criminal Justice Reform were unable to come even close to getting it done, they came to me as a group and asked for my help," he wrote. "I got it done with a group of Senators & others who would never have gone for it. Obama couldn’t come close."

Trump was referring to the First Step Act that he signed into law in December 2018 which "will ensure people are prepared to come home from prison job-ready and have major incentives to pursue the life-changing classes that will help them succeed on the outside."

The act will also reduce mandatory minimum sentences in certain cases and will allow for more than 3,000 inmates released from incarceration.

"A man named @VanJones68, and many others, were profusely grateful (at that time!)," Trump continued. "I SIGNED IT INTO LAW, no one else did, & Republicans deserve much credit. But now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise. Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy-mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is—but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed."

"Anchor @LesterHoltNBC doesn’t even bring up the subject of President Trump or the Republicans when talking about the importance or passage of Criminal Justice Reform. They only talk about the minor players or people that had nothing to do with it... And the people that so desperately sought my help when everyone else had failed, all they talk about now is Impeaching President Trump!"

But neither Legend nor Teigen took those cheap shots lying down, quickly coming up with scathing responses.

"Imagine being president of a whole country and spending your Sunday night hate-watching MSNBC hoping somebody—ANYBODY—will praise you," Legend tweeted.

"Melania, please praise this man. He needs you. Your country needs you, Melania," he continued,  before attaching a GIF of the First Lady looking endearingly at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and writing, "Ah yes, Melania is otherwise occupied. My apologies."

"lol what a p**** a** b****, tagged everyone but me," Teigen wrote. "an honor, mister president."

"Luna, remember the night before your first day of school? When mommy was making your sign and the pussy ass bitch president had his 9th meltdown of the day," she said in a second tweet where she attached a picture of her dog watching on as she wrote on a chalkboard. "The absolute best part of his tweet is I literally didn't speak in the special, nor was I mentioned. I'm cackling at the pointless addition of me because he cannot not be a b****," she added.
