NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump’s absence from the second GOP debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library became the talk of the town before, during, and after the debate.
Fox News anchor Sean Hannity who called Trump 'The Don', claimed that it was “much more important for him [Trump] to work to save autoworkers Wednesday night.”
Trump allegedly skipped the second GOP debate “to speak to autoworkers in Clinton Township, Michigan,” however, the internet isn’t too convinced by the same, as Trump faced backlash following Hannity’s report on the matter.
Sean Hannity reports on how Donald Trump ‘strikes back’
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity quoted Donald Trump.
The tweet read, “TRUMP: “I thought it was much more important, considering I have a 56-point lead, for me to be dealing with the UAW and the fact that the Biden Administration is going to destroy their jobs over the next two years by going all-electric vehicle.”

Attached was an article on Hannity’s official website titled, “DON STRIKES BACK! Trump Reacts to Debate Jabs, Says 'More Important' to Meet With Autoworkers.”
On the website, Hannity mentioned the infamous polling numbers, “The Don, who is up by more than 50 points in some polls, reacted to the jabs and barbs thrown his way from fellow GOP contenders.”
In an exclusive with Fox News Digital, Trump said, “I thought it was much more important, considering I have a 56-point lead, for me to be dealing with the UAW and the fact that the Biden Administration is going to destroy their jobs over the next two years by going all-electric vehicle.”

Trump also responded to Chris Christie calling him “Donald Duck” during the debate and said, “Anybody that would come up with that nickname shouldn’t be running for president.”
Internet strikes back on ‘The Don’ aka Donald Trump
In response to Sean Hannity’s report on Donald Trump prioritizing the UAW, the internet was not convinced.
One person wrote, “As he gave his speech in a non-union shop, Sean? Give it a rest. Trump had done very little for union workers or the middle class as a whole as president and could care less for them. Let’s be honest for once.”

“He wasn’t dealing with UAW He’s totally anti-union. More lies!” said one user and another wrote, “Oh, at a non-union shop? That's how he deals with the UAW?”

Some have even labeled Trump as “petty” as one user wrote, “He never stops patting himself on the back. Petty.” Another user on X said, “Amazing he could not do those things a day before, two days before,…just had to be on debate day at the same time as the debate. Piled high and deep.”
