WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump drove the internet into chaos as he warned that the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement “is not going to end well,” pointing out no US citizens have been released in the process.

Forty-one of the 240 hostages have been freed since the truce took effect at around 7 am on Friday, November 24. Majed al-Ansari, a spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, revealed that 13 Israeli women and children, 10 Thai nationals, and one Filipino were released free on Friday.

Four Thais and thirteen Israelis—among them the nine-year-old Israeli-Irish Emily Hand—were freed on Saturday. The release on Saturday did not go as smoothly as it did on Friday, as it looked like it might not happen at all at one point in the afternoon.

It is reported that Hamas postponed the release because it wasn't happy with how much aid—a crucial component of the agreement—was getting to Gaza.

However, the release did take place, even though no Americans were released for the second day in a row.

What did Donald Trump say about the Israel-Hamas ceasefire?

Addressing the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, “Has anybody noticed that Hamas has returned people from other Countries but, so far, has not returned one American Hostage?”

“There is only one reason for that, NO RESPECT FOR OUR COUNTRY OR OUR LEADERSHIP. This is a very sad and dark period of America!”

“Hamas now wants a better deal for hostages. This is not going to end well!” the 77-year-old real estate mogul continued in his post.

Fifty hostages, mostly women and children, will be freed in groups by Hamas for four days in a row as part of a temporary ceasefire mediated by Qatar with assistance from the United States and Egypt.

In exchange, Israel is releasing 150 Palestinian prisoners who had been detained previously. Qatar has expressed hope that the arrangement can be prolonged as additional captives can be released.

President Joe Biden also stated that he is “hopeful” the current cease-fire would be extended and other hostages will be freed, including at least two American women and a 4-year-old girl.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday night that they received a list of captives scheduled for release on Sunday.

“Security officials are checking the list' and the information has been conveyed to the hostages' families,” the office said in a statement.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump’s warning

Donald Trump’s warning has garnered immense social media attention, with many users supporting his claims. “Yep, we've noticed. Biden will send more money. Wait for it,” one user said.

“First thing We noticed, never negotiate with kidnappers never, we have trained special forces,” the second user asserted.

Another wrote, “That's because this administration has put a price tag on every American life. It used to be that we didn't negotiate with terrorists back when we had a backbone.”

“Biden's bad decisions, every time. Why is he meddling? And worse, why are we negotiating with terrorists? I do trust, Trump making wise decisions,” one more user agreed.

However, there were also some users who slammed Trump, opposing his claims. “You appear to be oozing with jealousy over President Biden's accomplishments,” one user slammed.

“Donald J Trump is currently facing 91 felony charges. This is not going to end well!” the second user said, while the third wrote “What's that criminal Defendant?! 🤣🤣🤣”

“We remember when you returned 5000 Taliban fighters to the battlefield we remembered when you let over 700,000 Americans die because you refused to believe Covid was an issue. We remember you raped a woman we remember that you tried overthrowing your own government,” the fourth user stated.

“We see this - Trump can do nothing to help because he is POWERLESS and without respect. Biden will work it out,” another user wrote.
