President Donald Trump was spotted golfing at Mar-a-Lago after reporters were given a copy of his schedule during his first full day operating from his personal resort in Florida. The schedule included a note, assuring readers that the president's time at the resort was not an idle vacation, but instead, a working trip to the "White House South."

“As the Holiday season approaches, President Trump will continue to work tirelessly for the American People. His schedule includes many meetings and calls,” the schedule said. However, though it mentioned that the president was 'working tirelessly', Trump was spotted carting around the green at the Palm Beach golf course. CNN's White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins had tweeted the photo.

Apart from vocally expressing his fury at the 2020 election results, Trump has been rather absent from his duties as president, with regards to the concerns about the coronavirus vaccine. Since the election, Trump has not been making public appearances. This absence comes as the US struggles with continually increasing coronavirus cases, the real threat of the government shutting down, and growing financial and food insecurity caused by the pandemic.

Earlier this week, Trump had released a video threatening to veto the massive $900 billion coronavirus relief bill, which was packaged with the nation's defense spending budget — because he thought its $600 direct payments to Americans was not sufficient enough, and he demanded that the direct payments be increased to $2,000. Furious about the range of provisions in the bill, including foreign aid, he lashed out at lawmakers to "get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation and to send me a suitable bill". He called on Congress to increase the "ridiculously low" $600 checks to $2000. He forgot to mention that the $600 check idea emanated from his own treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin.

Following Trump's statements, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dared Trump’s Republican allies in Congress to meet the president’s demand for far higher payments. "At last, the President has agreed to $2,000. Democrats are ready to bring this to the Floor this week by unanimous consent. Let’s do it!," Pelosi said in a tweet.

After discussing his views on the bill, Trump lashed out at Mitch McConnell as well as Senator John Thune, who said there was no point of trying to expect any different result. "Republicans in the Senate so quickly forget. Right now they would be down 8 seats without my backing them in the last Election. RINO John Thune, 'Mitch’s boy', should just let it play out. South Dakota doesn’t like weakness. He will be primaried in 2022, political career over!!," Trump tweeted.

He vetoed the bill. House Democrats were eager to pass a bill raising the direct payments to $2,000, but House Republicans were not up for it. Without the bill, the government risks shutting down as it would halt unemployment payments that kept 14 million Americans from financial ruin. Trump has also received heavy criticism for not responding to a massive hacking campaign that intelligence officials claim was carried out by Russia.
