Trump reportedly yelled at Rupert Murdoch on phone after Fox called Arizona for Joe Biden, slammed as 'crybaby'
President Donald Trump had reportedly called Rupert Murdoch in a fit of rage on Tuesday night, November 3, after Fox News became the first to call Arizona for his rival Joe Biden. Trump had called Fox and Friends to complain about how unfair they had been to him during his presidency, said a report. According to an insider who spoke to Vanity Fair, Trump had called the Fox owner 'to demand a retraction'.
Murdoch, 89, however, refused to order his staff to retract the Arizona call, according to the report. The Associated Press has called Arizona for Biden though NBC and CNN have not done so yet. This was the first 'flip' of the election and was the first state to go in the opposite direction as compared to four years ago when Trump had beat Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Since then both Wisconsin and Michigan have both gone for Biden after having voted for Trump in 2016. As Trump's reelection chances are becoming increasingly unlikely, he reportedly slammed the editorial calls made by the network. Trump had earlier recalled the absence of Roger Ailes who had been the CEO of Fox News until 2016 when he was accused of sexual harassment by 23 women and made to resign.
Trump's political adviser Jason Miller also reportedly called Fox News many times to retract the call and disputed it on Twitter. According to The New York Times, Jared Kushner, who is the president's son-in-law, had also been in touch with Murdoch. Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders spoke to Fox from outside the White House and thought it could have been a 'premature call', said the report.
As per RawStory, many Trump supporters rushed to the state capitol and election headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona in order to protest against the counting of votes. The Trump supporters were also heard chanting 'Fox News sucks!' Earlier in the evening, people with cellphones who claimed to be journalists had broken into the Maricopa County Elections Department and demanded that they be allowed into the building.
Many social media users slammed Trump for his behavior. One such user shared, "It also didn’t matter since Arizona’s result had nothing to do with the call - it had to do with something Tяump will never have - the unasked for love and loyalty of the people earned from unimpeachable integrity."
Another shared, "Crybaby Trump is getting ready to find out just exactly how impotent he is and how all that “loyalty “ is evaporating." Yet another added, "Did Trump really think Fox News will be on his side? After he cussed and yelled at Fox news reporters who dared to speak some truth. Only few Fox reporters like Sean Hannity were still lying and covering Trump's crimes. Fox News were already done with him before election started." "Sounds like SOMEONE's not afraid of the guy who's not going to be president much longer," commented another. A social media user who echoed the same sentiments chimed in, "Could there be anything more ridiculous, even for him?"
