Dog the Bounty Hunter says girlfriend Moon Angell helped him overcome suicidal thoughts after Beth Chapman's death
Duane 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Chapman, in a recent interview, revealed that he credits his longtime friend Moon Angell with helping him overcome suicidal thoughts after his wife Beth Chapman's death.
Dog, in an upcoming appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, said that he called Angell when he was going through a particularly dark time after Beth passed away. Beth Chapman died from throat cancer at the age of 51 last year. The 66-year-old said that he was thinking of ending his life by taking a lot of pills.
"Well, I couldn’t stop crying,” he said. “I’m Apache, I wasn’t going to commit suicide with a gun or something. I was going to take a lot of pills because she left — Beth left all her big pills there. So I thought, I just need one drink a water.”
"You were going to commit suicide?” Dr. Mehmet Oz asked in the segment. To which, Dog replied with: “Oh, yeah,” as he held back tears. He then added that he eventually changed his mind, and he has Angell to thank for it.
"Well, she’s pretty rough, this one," he said of Angell. She then interjected saying: "I say ‘brutally honest,'" invoking a laugh from Dog. "I don’t go in and out. It’s one way. And this is the way we’re going to do it. He needs to get going. We need to get back on the show and get him busy again," she said during the segment, according to People.
When Dr. Oz asked about the nature of the pair's relationship, Angell confirmed that her relationship with Dog was "intimate."
"It has to be intimate," she said. “Because there’s a lot of powerful things going on with Dog.”
The pair's relationship was questioned by many as they shared a picture of themselves together on Instagram earlier this month. Dog's daughter Lyssa Chapman, however, does not approve of the couple's relationship, reports state.
Dog, in another teaser of their appearance on Dr. Oz, also appeared to be proposing to Angell, asking her: "Will you marry me?" His girlfriend's answer is yet to be revealed.
