Dog owner who failed to get her labrador treated for "elephantine" skin is banned from keeping animals

The condition forced Abbie's eyelids to fold in on themselves and rub against her corneas, leaving her in constant pain
UPDATED JAN 25, 2019

A dog owner who failed to get her black labrador's skin disease treated and which led to the canine developing rashes so severe that it rubbed against her cornea has been banned from keeping animals for five years in one of the UK's worst ever neglect cases.

Lisa Stephanie Crossley, also known as Lisa Jones, failed to take her dog Abbie to the vets when the poor animal developed a painful rash on her face, which became so severe that with time the tissue thickened into 'elephantine' skin, Daily Mail reported.

The condition forced Abbie's eyelids to fold in on themselves and rub against her corneas, leaving her in constant pain. However, a highly concerned member of the public tipped off the RSPCA about the owner's neglect, and who then seized Abbie from Crossley, who is from Oswestry in Shropshire, and rushed her to the vets.
