'Do murderers not know how Google works?': Internet baffled by Brian Walshe's search history
COHASSET, MASSACHUSETTS: Brian Walshe was charged with murder in the disappearance of his wife Ana Walshe on Wednesday, January 18. Along with the charges, court prosecutor Lynn Beland also revealed a list of Google searches that Brian made, days after the Massachusetts mother mysteriously disappeared. Some of the Google searches were: “What’s the best state to divorce for a man”, “How long before a body starts to smell”, “How to stop a body from decomposing”, “How long does DNA last”, “How to clean blood from the wooden floor”, “Is it better to throw crime scene clothes away or wash them”, “Can you be charged with murder without a body”, “What is the rate of decomposition of a body found in a plastic bag compared to on a surface in the woods” among others.
After the searches were revealed, users on social media couldn't help but react to them. One person wrote on Reddit, “Truth if you don't want to be convicted of murder, the best lifehack in the world is don't murder someone. F*ck this guy, hope he rots for the rest of his miserable life. Whatever sentence he gets is too light.” “In most of these cases where people kill their spouse I really don't know why they do not just go start a new life somewhere else like just walk away from everything entirely and go start over somewhere new. like leave them alone, leave the friends, just start over and roll the dice in a new place. You get caught that's what you are going to be doing in a prison anyway,” another added.

Many users also questioned if the suspect knew how Google searches really work. One person wondered, “Do murderers not know how Google works?” Another user replied back saying, “Dude Googled all this sh*t within a few hours, does he seem like a man with a plan to you?” Several users questioned whether Google search results should be enough to charge a suspect. One person explained, “Makes me wonder if google search history can tell the difference between my keyed entry and their suggestions. If I typed in ‘best way to dismember’ and google autocompleted with ‘a body if you really need to’ and I'm just high and curious about what's out there, why should this lead to my arrest for murder just because my spouse happens to have been dismembered? That's just not fair.”
Ana Walshe, a 39-year-old mother, was last seen in the early hours of January 1 after having dinner at home with her husband and a friend, according to investigators. According to Brian Walshe, his wife left around 6 am on January 1 to take a rideshare to Logan Airport and catch a flight to Washington, DC, to attend to a work emergency. However, according to the police, she never boarded a flight or rideshare. Police allegedly discovered blood in the basement and a broken knife with blood on it when they searched the couple's Cohasset home on January 8. On the day of his arrest, Brian Walshe was initially charged with misleading the authorities. He was held on a $500,000 bail after entering a not-guilty plea.
