Disturbing video shows gang of dirt bikers brutally beat and rob man and son in Harlem
HARLEM, NEW YORK: The NYPD released a disturbing video which shows a gang of dirt bikers brutally beating and robbing a 64-year-old driver and his son after the driver accidentally hit a member of their crew at a Harlem intersection. At least three bikers and one ATV rider took part in the incident, which took place on Tuesday, March 15.
NY police confirmed that the incident took place near the Harlem intersection of West 127th Street near St. Nicholas Terrace. Surveillance footage shows the bikers swarmed the car, pulling the man and his 36-year-old son out of the vehicle, tossing them into the street and then repeatedly punching and kicking them both. At one point, two other suspects ran to the scene and appeared to join in on the attack. Police say that the suspects took a cellphone, credit and debit cards, driver’s licenses and about $150 before fleeing.

The New York post reported that the gang attacked the driver after he allegedly collided with a dirt biker that ran a red light at Frederick Douglass Boulevard and West 127th Street at about 4:30 pm. Following the crash, the shaken driver fled the scene but the crew cut him off two blocks later at St. Nicholas Terrace.
Police reported that after the incident both victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition. The names of the victims are not yet revealed by the police for privacy purposes.

Crime rates are drastically rising in New York; in January 2022, it recorded a 38.5 percent increase in overall crime compared with the same period in January 2021.The robbery was up 33.1 percent year over year; grand larceny spiked 58.1 percent, and shootings increased 31.6 percent. Homicides fell 15.2 percent year-over-year. People are criticizing that Mayor Eric Adams is going quite soft on the crimes ad that his policies need to change. The Mayor himself has promised on several occasions that he will work on improving the safety of the people. but still crimes continue in the city.
Keeping in mind the increasing crime rates, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell, said in a statement that cops remained committed to reducing violence and were working around the clock to devise comprehensive crime-fighting measures. Sewell said, "The NYPD will forever work to ensure public safety and will never give up this city.This is our solemn vow to New Yorkers and to New York City. It remains critical that all partners come to the table in this shared mission to combat gun violence."
