LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It is no secret that Marvel Cinematic Universe has changed drastically since the end of Phase 4. As Phase 5 has commenced, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ takes the cake, and it doesn’t help MCU that James Gunn has moved to DC. Now, Marvel must focus on their next project, ‘Secret Invasion’ a mini-series based on one of the most popular comics in Marvel that focuses on the Skrull invasion.

The expectations for Marvel are getting lower and lower as Phase 5 progresses, and despite the star-studded cast, ‘Secret Invasion’ might be headed for a major flop before it even releases. Marvel has had a few series out on Disney+ so far, including ‘WandaVision', ‘Loki’, ‘Ms Marvel', ‘Moon Knight', ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier', ‘What if?', and ‘Hawkeye', and ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’. Apart from the series, Marvel has also experimented with Holiday specials, but right now, the focus remains on ‘Secret Invasion'.

‘Secret Invasion’ gets lowest Rotten Tomatoes rating

The countdown has begun as we edge closer to the release of ‘Secret Invasion’ on Disney+. Samuel L Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Olivia Colman, and Emilia Clarke amongst others are all teaming up to make ‘Secret Invasion’ a success, and frankly, Marvel could use a win right about now. However, this far-sighted win seems to be disappearing as Rotten Tomatoes releases its early rating for the mini-series, with 66%. It is safe to say, that amongst all Marvel series, ‘Secret Invasion’ is currently at the bottom, with a large gap. ‘Ms Marvel’ leads the ratings with 98% and ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ is at 80% which was at the bottom until ‘Secret Invasion’ swooped in.

Could ‘Secret Invasion’ save itself?

There’s time. That is the best way to describe the possibility that ‘Secret Invasion’ could leave the bottom position, and make its way someway to the top as the episodes start rolling out. The series does showcase a lot of promise, but at the same time, takes a huge risk by taking on the premise of Skrull Invasion, which needs to be done justice to, for the comic fans. ‘Secret Invasion’ has a lot riding on it, and maybe only Nick Fury can save this mini-series now, and of course, the Earth from the Skrull invasion.

You can stream ‘Secret Invasion’ from June 21, 2023, exclusively on Disney+.
