'Jungle Cruise' Cast: Meet Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, and others from Disney blockbuster
Disney’s upcoming movie ‘Jungle Cruise’ follows Frank (Dwayne Johnson), a riverboat captain agreeing to go on a mission with British scientist Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) and her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall) to uncover the truth about the Tree of Life. According to legends, the tree possesses incredible power that can be used to create medicines for life-threatening diseases.
The trio travels through the deepest points of the Amazon to find the tree and encounter a lot of difficulties. From wild animals to strange creatures, they see it all. However, they soon realize that they are not the only ones on an expedition to find the tree. The trio will do anything and everything to stop it from falling in the wrong hands as the fate of humankind hangs in balance.
‘Jungle Cruise’ is one of the highly anticipated movies of 2021 and the production giant would be hoping for the movie to do well after the success of movies such as ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’, ‘Wrinkle in Time’ and ‘The Lion King’.

Cast
Dwayne Johnson as Frank Wolff
Johnson needs no introduction. He has been a part of the industry since the 90s and has emerged as one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood. Born on May 2, 1972, Johnson started his professional career as a wrestler with the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) and was known by his ring name ‘The Rock’. The professional wrestler garnered a lot of fame through wrestling and eventually took up acting as a profession.
He made his acting debut in 1999 by making cameo appearances in projects such as ‘That 70s Show’ and ‘Beyond the Mat’. His first major role came in ‘The Mummy Returns’ where he played The Scorpion King. However, it would take him years to be recognized for his work and became an extraordinary actor.
It was the 2011 movie ‘Fast Five’ which would give him the much-needed success. Since then, he has worked on various projects and become a superstar. Films like ‘San Andreas’, ‘Rampage’, ‘Moana’, ‘Central Intelligence’, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ received acclaim from around the world and Johnson’s presence in the movie was one of the reasons for that.
The superstar will be next seen in ‘Red Notice’ along with Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. He will also be playing the role of Black Adam in the movie of the same name from DC and WB.
Emily Blunt as Dr Lily Houghton
Born on February 23, 1983, Emily Blunt is one of the most talented actresses in the world right now and has given many award-worthy performances in her career. In November 2001, Blunt made her professional debut in Peter Hall's production of the play ‘The Royal Family’, in which she played the role of Gwen.
The actress made her acting debut with the TV movie ‘Boudica’ and her feature film debut came in 2004 with ‘My Summer of Love’. Her first major role came in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ in 2006 and received a lot of praise for her acting. She was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role at the BAFTAs and Golden Globes. Since then, Blunt has acted in several projects and has been dubbed as Hollywood’s finest talent.
She won the Best Action Movie Actress for her role in ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and received numerous nominations for ventures such as ‘Sicario’, ‘The Girl on the Train’, ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ and ‘A Quiet Place’.
Jack Whitehall as McGregor Houghton
Whitehall started his acting career at the tender age of 9 and appeared on the TV show ‘Noah’s Ark’. However, as he got older, he got really attracted to stand-up comedy and went on to pursue a career in it. Whitehall started stand-up comedy performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe at the Pleasance Theatre's Comedy Reserve showcase.
The comedian appeared on several comedy specials over the initial years and also took up acting. In 2013, he voiced the character of Gothi in ‘Frozen’. Meanwhile, in 2015, he acted and co-wrote ‘The Bad Education Movie’. The film received positive reviews and Whitehall was praised for his acting.
He has been awarded the King of Comedy accolade at the British Comedy Awards on three separate occasions (2012, 2013, and 2014).
Jesse Plemons as Prince Joachim
Born on April 2, 1988, Jesse Plemons began his career as a child actor and appeared in a Coca-Cola advertisement when he was just 3 and half years of age. When he was 8 years old, he started doing extra work, and with the support of his family, spent time auditioning in Los Angeles and landing small jobs. In 2006, when he was 18, Plemons joined the ensemble cast of NBC's ‘Friday Night Lights’.
The actor garnered a lot of prominence after his stint on the show and started getting better roles. From 2012 to 2013, Plemons portrayed the psychopathic villain Todd Alquist during the final season of ‘Breaking Bad’. Plemons also played mobster Kevin Weeks in the Boston-set mob film ‘Black Mass’, starring Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, in 2015, he starred in the acclaimed TV series ‘Fargo’ and received a Primetime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie category.
In 2019 he had a supporting role in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’. Earlier this year, he played a significant role in the Academy Award-winning movie ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’.
He will be playing the lead role in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ along with Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Paul Giamatti as Nilo
The veteran actor from Connecticut has been part of the entertainment industry since 1989. Giamatti landed his first high-profile role as Kenny “Pig Vomit” Rushton in the film adaptation of Howard Stern's ‘Private Parts’. In 1998, Giamatti appeared in a number of supporting roles in the big-budget films, ‘The Truman Show’, ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and ‘The Negotiator’.
Seven years later, Giamatti appeared in Ron Howard’s ‘Cinderella Man’ opposite Russell Crowe and Renee Zellweger, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He was nominated for a Golden Globe and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture.
2008 turned out to be a special year for the actor as he went on to win a Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy, and a SAG award for her role in miniseries ‘John Adams’.
‘Parkland’, ’12 Years a Slave’, ‘Saving Mr. Banks’, ‘San Andreas’ and ‘Straight Outta Compton’ are some of the projects he has featured in over the years.
Edgar Ramirez as Aguirre
The Venezuelan actor is known for his roles in projects such as 'Carlos' and 'The Assassination of Gianni Versace'. Ramirez's first recognition as an actor was the successful soap opera 'Cosita Rica'. Ramírez went on to play the role of the actual Carlos in the 2010 French-German limited series Carlos. At the French César Awards 2011, he was awarded, for the film version of the TV series, the César Award for Most Promising Actor.
