'Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian': Release date, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the behind-the-scenes docuseries
While fans are still going to have to wait a while before 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 releases in October, this 'Star Wars' Day offers a special treat to its fans, with an eight-episode documentary about the making of 'The Mandalorian' Season 1, from interviews with the cast, the creators, the crew, and of course, Baby Yoda.
Release Date
'Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian' released on May 4th, on what is largely considered around the world to be 'Star Wars' day.
Plot
Each of the docuseries' eight episodes will focus on a different aspect of the show, from behind-the-scenes moments to exclusive clips and deleted scenes, interview with the cast and creators, a closer look at the fight choreography, initial concepts, costume design and of course, the robotics that went into the animatronic doll that stole the world's heart: Baby Yoda. 'The Mandalorian' was a mix of practical effects and CGI, a unique blend that set the series apart from most big-budget TV series and contributed to its distinctive look, and the series offers audiences an important look at how it all came together.
Cast
Jon Favreau
Jon Favreau is a prolific actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. An important driving force behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he's now an integral part of the 'Star Wars' franchise as well. He is the mind responsible for creating 'The Mandalorian,' and has written for the series.
Dave Filoni
Dave Filoni has been an integral part of the extended 'Star Wars' universe for years now as a director and writer for the acclaimed 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' series, which will be coming to an end on the same day that 'Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian' releases. Filoni wrote and directed several episodes of 'The Mandalorian.'
Deborah Chow
Deborah Chow is a filmmaker, television director, and screenwriter, who made her 'Star Wars' debut directing two pivotal episodes of 'The Mandalorian,' as well as making a small cameo in one of its episodes. 'The Mandalorian' is not her only 'Star Wars' claim to fame, however, as she will also be directing the upcoming untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor.

On April 23, 'Star Wars' announced the series and released a trailer, showing clips from interviews with Favreau, Chow, and Filoni, talking about moments involving shooting, and sharing tales of Werner Herzog and Baby Yoda. It also shows some behind the scenes moments, and a glimpse at the magic behind 'The Mandalorian.'

Disney and the 'Star Wars' media site made the announcement for the release of this series on April 23. 'The Mandalorian' twitter account tweeted the news with a poster for the series, featuring the titular Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) standing amongst the sets.
