Jared Leto to star in 'Tron 3'? Upset fans don't want him in the film, say he 'ruins' everything he is in
Back in 2017, there was strong speculation that Disney was in talks with Jared Leto to star in the sequel to 'Tron Legacy' which was directed by Joseph Kosinski and grossed $400 million worldwide. While nothing materialized, the rumor resurfaced again recently, leaving fans in a bit of a flux.
Disney fan sites have been adding fuel to the fire. "A couple of months back, our trusted source informed us that a Tron reboot with Jared Leto is still in the works with a director search underway," according to Disney fan news site The Dis Insider. "We have heard multiple directors in the mix but nothing we can confirm as of yet." Another Disney fan news site, DR Movie News, tweeted on July 7, "Disney confirms that Tron 3 is officially in development. Jared Leto is reportedly in talks to star. A director search is underway, but the studio is hopeful that Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski returns, as well as Daft Punk for the score."
However, Disney and Leto have not confirmed anything yet. Fans have their reservations about Leto carrying the film on his own. "Look, if Jared Leto does a good job in "Morpheus" then people will have to stop complaining about him getting the role for "Tron 3" let the man redeem himself from "hunka hunka" Joker & see if he can truly carry a movie again," one tweeted.
Another wrote that he was 'overrated' and not a good actor. "I'm just surprised Disney thinks it's a good idea to hire Jared Leto for the Tron 3 film because honestly he's not actually a good actor. Sure he has name recognition but he's really overrated and he's been a terror to other casts on other films," a fan wrote.
"Tron 3 in the works? My FAVORITE movie franchise?! HELL YEAH!!! Kinda meh on Jared Leto though...." a fan tweeted.
Many haven't forgiven him for his performance as the Joker in 'Suicide Squad', which bombed miserably. " Was excited for Tron 3 but I really hope Jared Leto isn't in it. Like we get it, you were a horrible joker and want redemption but stop trying to be in everything," another wrote.
"I didn't think there was anything that would make me oppose Tron 3. But I realize now it is actually Jared Leto," another wrote.
Another was perplexed by the animosity towards Leto and asked Twitter why exactly he had been canceled. "So the big rumour is that Tron 3 is happening, and the outrage fixed to it isn't that Disney may very well f**k it up, but, that... Jared Leto might be involved? OK, so when did I miss the 'cancel Jared Leto' bullshit, and what is it he's supposed to have done?" a fan wrote.
"If Jared Leto officially gets tagged for Tron 3, I dun think I could watch it. The dude is a gawdawful creep and ruins pretty much everything I watch that he's in," another tweeted.
